      Hi All
Anyone with St Hilda's, Pei Hwa and Ai Tong's Prelims (2013) papers willing to share or can direct me to the relevant webpages (free type)?

    • RE: Q&A - PSLE Science

The answer should be (b). The amount of vegetable produce would increase as there will be less or no caterpillars to eat them but the amount of fruits produced would be less as a lot of the insects (pollinating agents) would be killed by the insecticide.

      htn:
      Hi, please help

      1) Fruit trees, vegetables and butterflies make up a community in a farm. The farmer sprayed insecticide on the vegetables when he found that they were eaten by caterpillars.
How would the spraying of insecticide affect the amount of vegetables and fruits produced?
      a) vegetables increase, fruits increase
      b) vegetables increase, fruits decrease
      c) vegetables decrease, fruits increase
      d) vegetables decrease, fruits decrease
May I know what is the answer for the above and why? TIA

It should be (4) and (2).
When you see cells and you cannot see chloroplasts, then we can conclude it is not a plant cell. Hence conclude this is likely an animal cell.

Digestive juices are found in the mouth, stomach and small intestine.

Root tip cells do not have chloroplast. The major difference between animal and plant cells is cell wall.

      SOS mum:
Bernice conducted an experiment on two types of light bulbs, bulbs R and Q. She recorded the temperature in each set up at regular intervals.

      Temperature in set up (°C)
Time (min) bulb R bulb Q
      -----------------------------------------------------------
      0 24 24
      30 28 25
      60 30 26
      90 31 26

Based on Bernice's experiment, explain why bulb R requires more electrical energy than bulb Q to produce the same amount of light energy to light up a room. (1m)

      TIA
The increase in temperature is due to the conversation of electrical energy to heat energy. Hence bulb R would require more electrical energy.

Answer should be A (Y only), as that is the point where gravitational potential energy takes over (where items start to drop). Should not consider point Z as its energy has been stopped by the ground.

If I'm not mistaken, gravity acts on any object on earth at all time. so the answer should be (4).
