      that is incorrect.

S1 posting will start with AL4 students first. Once they have cleared ALL AL4 applicant, they will move to AL5, then AL6 etc. AL9 students will only get posted after AL8 applicants has been cleared.

However is all applicant are AL9, those who put first choice will get in first. Maybe that is what they are trying to say.
Thank you for clarifying. I'm pretty clear now.
So to speak so long a student indicate the choices within their COP and buffer some school that are few points more, they will surely get a place among their choices.

However with this it also means the under performing students will not have good chance to get into their desired schools.

Yes, what you wrote is correct. All of the students that scored AL8 or better will be allocated a spot ahead of any AL9s. For SAP school like RVHS, AL9(D)(M)(P) will also be allocated a spot before students with AL9.
Hi, just to clarify in this case, is it those students who scored better and put RVHS as the last choice will still have priority over a student who score AL9 and put it as 1st choice?

A friend of mine who is a teacher told me its the other way round whereby all students who met the COP range who put 1st choice will be admitted first, followed by the 2nd choice students, and then 3rd choice and so on and so forth as priority order matters this year. So I'm also confused until now.

    • RE: Schools selection... how to select?

      Thanks everyone for your input.

I actually understand the school allocation as what you all have mentioned, that merit always come first.

But my hubby understanding is just the other way and insist that if the student score AL 10 and the school last COP is AL 10, the student meet the mark and by putting it as first choice, this student should get in first vs an AL 8 student who put as 6th choice, to be fair.

Of course if this AL10 student try their luck to put a school w COP of AL 8 as first choice, then this priority should not work out unless there is vacancies.

Thanks Zac's Mum and Lee_yl for your reply.

However, my hubby insisted that this year with the priority choice being emphasised, the student who meet the COP and put the school as 1st choice will definitely get in first compared to a better score student who put it as a Lower priority choice. 😓

He felt that this is the fairer way, and school should accept base on who meet COP and put as 1st choice, followed by 2nd choice first... vs those who are better grade and put as last choice. Otherwise, it will be a disadvantage always for the lower grade student regardless if they put as 1st or 2nd choice.

      Appreciate your advise. Thank you.

      Hi Everyone,

I’m still abit uncertain and would like to clarify how the school priority choice and student merit come into play for schools to accept students.

Eg, If student A with COP 10 put school X as 3rd choice, and student B with COP 12 put school X as 1st choice, and the school COP to enter is 12, who will the school accept first?
The student who prioritise the school at 1st choice with just nice COP or the 3rd choice student who score better?

    • RE: GEP 2018 - Screening and Selection Test

      Hi Smurfy,

Really so qiao. Haha. Your girl also from class 1E all the way to 3E? You happen to know how many students in total went for 2nd round from our school? I went to school to pick my son after the test and saw many students from the other schools board on the buses that their school catered for them... and mostly full load like going for excursion kind. I was like... wow, so many students from these few schools made it to round 2 selection test.
Yes our school is SAP but feels just like any neighbourhood school with more emphasis in Chinese culture. But I like our school and the environment of this new campus. (I was a former student too)
On one hand, I do hope my son can get selected cause one of the GEP school is just a stone throw from my home, logistics wise will be much easier if he needs to study till late at upper primary level. But on the other hand, I'm also glad he didn't get selected, as i dont think he is mature enough to cope with the GEP school load, also, now he can continue to go to school with his little sister and no need to part with his good friends in the current school. 🙂

      Hi zing,

My girl’s class also had 16 kids who went and one selected. A boy. Are our kids from the same school, same class?

I am very relieved that she didn’t get in. It will be a logistical nightmare for us but I couldn’t imagine myself doing her a dis service by not letting her change school. But all ends well 🙂

It was a learning experience for us. I learnt more about her in this process as well.

Congrats to those who gets in. I believe it will be an enriching program for e kids
      Hi Smurfy,

Sounds coincidental. Yes it's a boy who got in GEP from my son's class. Does your girl happen to be in class 3E of a SAP school?

My son's school has also notified us. Received the 'thank you for participation' white letter.

His class had 16 students went for second round, only 1 emerged. Not sure how many from other classes went for the selection test though. Anyway congrats to parents here whose child has been offered GEP, they must be elated. Well done! 🙂 And for the students who didn't make it through, they deserve great applause too. Its indeed not easy to be within the top 1%, but still, they all made it to be within the top 10% of the entire P3 cohort. Just this alone, I am very tbankful and proud of my son. Lets hope they will all perform well for their PSLE in time to come. Cheers! 😄

Same sentiments. I am very happy and surprised that my Son actually can pass round 1 screening test. It’s a good experience and exposure for him to be able to sit through round 2 selection test. Regardless of the results, he already gained and I’m impressed enough. 🙂

He also ranked the papers from easiest to most difficult as such:
GA Maths, GA English, Maths and English.
