    • RE: Comparing Chinese Enrichment (Primary/Preschool)

      Hi monstertoi,

My recommendation is to try Hua cheng education at Bukit Timah, their enrichment & compo programmes are quite effective and especially for quick improvement for exams. My DS was with them for a couple of years, he obtained good result in his PSLE last year, credited by the previlege of the bonus point of the HCL, he finally managed to be able to catch up with the ride to his dream school. You may want check some other comments of Hua cheng in this forum.

Another option is TH, which also has branch at your area, but it may always have long waiting list. You need to check with their admin.

      hi parents

Any recommendations for good chinese enrichment or tuition centres in Choa Chu Kang or Bukit Panjang area? My DS chinese grades are just above water.

    • RE: Hua Cheng Education Centre - Discussion

Hi jeanieg, thanks for your sharing!

I think there is a myth that many of our parents may fall in which kids could change their attitude automatically as long as they join in a good school/program. However, it is not neccessarily turned into reality as expected. I ever struggled with my elder boy when he was in his lower primary until one day I was enlighted by a teacher that it is actually a triple game needs the efforts from our kids, school and ourselves. As kids are kids after all with less control and persistence, we should not merely relay on their own. Our involvements are even more critical to their success when they are young. I fully supported that the school requires parents to help remind and help for "Ting Xie" at home regularly. Can image what progress can achieve as they only back to see the tutor once a week for just two hours. Its just my two cents’ view.

Does anybody has the idea of the COP of CatH IP? Though DS got posted to CatH Express at 247+2.

      Hi ngl2010, :congrats:

Got a bit disappointed, my boy got posted to his 2nd choice, CatH express.

Thank you, ZJMummy. What is your boy's 1st choice? Is it CatH IP?

Yah, he got 247+2, the first choice is CatH IP. But I am still thinking whether to appeal for IP, as my son is still quite childish always needs to push for everything. Maybe Express for him is not a bad choice, sigh... :?

My dilema, ds got 247+2. The dream school Catholic High, but it has two tracks: IP and O level. Don't know which track stands high chance to enter? Or can I select both tracks from the same school.

      What's your advice? TIA

Yes can apply both track. Logical will be ip before o level. If get in o level track, can try appeal intrnally for transfer to ip

      Thanks alot !

But I checked last year's COP. If this year the COP drops with 3 point. My chance to get in IP might be highier. Now, we three candidates all have IP and O'L:
      1) CHI (last cop: IP 252, O'L 249)
      2) SJI (last cop: IP 251, O'L 246)
      3) Victoria (last cop: IP 252, O'L 246)

Our preference is IP program and CHI is most near to home. But last two are not SAP school. In what order to ensure to secure the chance of IP, even in last two schools.

DS said paper was harder, but had chance score A* (lower), as MCQ were not too difficult.
