RE: Have you let yourself go?
highheels:
Surprisingly I can get shoes from shops such as Charles & Keith, Pedro, Tangs Studio & Fiore... The leather ones will be more comfortable than PVC ones as they stretch to fit my feet better. I also skip those pointy types & strappy sandals.
I've only one kid and my body is already not the same as before. Like you said, even though my weight is the same as pre-preg, my body shape has changederista:
After giving birth to 2 kids, body shape has totally changed... I've got wider ribcage (coz bb like to rest high up), wider hips, saggy boobs & a tummy pouch. Even after back to pre-pregnancy weight, still cant change these.
I've never been actively exercising so not much differences...
As for heels, I love heels! I've got broad & big feet but thankfully can find high heel designs to fit comfortably.
BTW, I've got broad feet, where do you get your heels from?? -
RE: In-law problems?
I can scold my parents & highlight my displeasure to them & my parents though may sometimes get angry about it, but they are reasonable & do admit that they are in the wrong & vice versa. My hubby has no problems speaking to my parents, though he don’t argue with them like I do but he is comfortable around them. My dad & him are rather much peas in a pod sometimes… Lol maybe that’s why I married him?
For my in-laws, my hubby totally scared of his parents & dunno how to talk to them at all. If I were to voice out anything, no matter how tactfully said or even if they blantly wrong… They will say that I’m wrong & I’m being disrespectful, evil & trying to poison their son etc…
IMO "in-law problems" are created due to differences in character, point of view & up-bringing. I’ve been brought up to be able to speak freely to my parents, whereas hubby was brought up in fear of his parents. -

But as I age I try to spend a bit more effort on my skin (which has never been good) & try to eat more healthily. I still go for facials at least once every 4-5weeks to pamper myself.

RE: New maid asking for extras
For all my maids so far I will provide toliteries such as shampoo, soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, facial wash & deodorant. But it would be my choice of brand & they will be informed to use it appropriately (i.e. Use sparingly). This is because I made the mistake of not stating that & my 1st maid finished a huge tube of toothpaste in less than 2mths.
They will be required to buy their own sanitary pad & if they don’t like the brand I bought, they have to pay for themselves. We prefer them to not apply body lotion or hand cream because we are afraid they may apply during the day & handle the children… Which I myself only apply at night after my kids are sleeping.
I’ve not come across any maid that came with torn clothes, but during CNY I will buy a set of new tee-shirt & bermudas or pants for them. -
RE: Reasons to ask your maid to leave
I'm sending my maid of about 7mths back. She is actually a transferred maid... She worked with another employer in SG for 2mths prior to working for me. Her duties are housework (no marketing or cooking or washing car) & assisting my mum to look after the kids.
Reasons:
1. Cannot trust her. Sneakily does things thinking tt we don't know.
2. Rude. When inform her on what she has done wrongly, she shows black face & don't want to reply. Apparently she recently admitted tt she also mutter curses & bad things towards us when she not happy.
3. Increasing refuses to follow instruction & don't do the housework properly (\"cut corners\")
4. Increasingly asking for more food to eat. Initially for lunches she is fine with a packet of instant noodles, now she is having 2 packets.
3 months back I told her about these issues we are facing with her and told her to reflect & improve, but it has only gotten worse. Although she did previously expressed tt she would prefer to go back to agency, but we decided to send her back to her country because we don't want another family to unfortunately meet with these issues too.
We are going maid-less!

RE: How much will you spend on maid's dental cost
Lol this thread went quite OOT…
Anyways back to topic, I previously had an ID maid who had dental problems. One of her molar was broken and would caused her pain every now & then. About 8mths into her contract, I noticed a lot of salt was used up… My maid don’t do cooking so I questioned her. She then admitted that she has been using salt & cold water to rinse her mouth when it hurts and she has been doing it for about 2mths. Upon further questioning, she then admitted she broke her tooth about 1yr ago back in her hometown but couldn’t afford dental… She was hoping her employer will pay for her dental in Singapore. We told her she was cheating us and told her to either pay for her own dental in SG or we will send her back to agency. She agreed to pay for her own dental as she said she liked working for our family. The bill came up to about $100+.
Just as we go for health checks before we start a new job, these maids do too… Our own companies do not cover certain existing illness (some companies may not even want to hire u if u have health problems), so I feel the same should apply for the FDW. -
RE: hello kitty at McDonald's
I still have the wedding HK… Only got the Japanese set. Didn’t have to Q for it coz a very good friend gave it to me… Pity we lost contact over the years as we went on very different study & career paths.
My hubby got the 1st HK from this latest set… Much smaller but still cute to me coz I’m a HK fan! Planning to only get the st and last one in this set. -
RE: Club 2010 Kids
Ymom, thanks for sharing the list of online shops where I can get goodie bags… But can’t find what I looking for. I looking for Teddy bear themed stuff as my boys absolutely loves stuffed toy bears. I seem to only find rilakuma or pooh stuff but no generic Teddy bear stuff.

RE: my maid contacted tuberculosis
pokemon97:
Immediately call the agency to inform them about it and hopefully they can get the maid to wear mask. If that dosent work, no choice have to threaten that if she don't want to wear then make her stay in one corner of the house and other ppl in the house who may have to come into contact with her to wear mask (e.g. pass her food). Best to use disposable wares for her too.Oh no...my sil's maid recently went for x-ray and the report show white spot and doctor suspect she got Tuberculosis and refer us to send her to TTS for test but the date is next week and first time consultants is from $105 exclude all charges.
And worst is that the moment she refuse to wear mask, what to do??? Anyone experience that, any advise? Thanks
