Hi Parents,
For those who DSA via acad, what sort of commitment per week is the girl required to stay back for her respective training/ program? or is it ad hoc basis? thanks.

Dsa or not, historically the sch tries to put at least 2 girls from same pri in the same class, however there are 12 classes so if less than 12 are admitted then they are highly likely in separate classjkorompis\" post_id=\"2048649\" time=\"1637908672\" user_id=\"193874:

MY younger DD in NYGH, there is an Ang Mo student, in GEP class, her chinese is so good that her chinese compo is listed under their annual publication of best compo selection. We chinese should strive to master the language. That Ang Mo student is the younger DD of Jim Roger, the investment guru. Her bigger DD had already progressed into HCJC year 1.
Jim Roger's younger DD is in class 111 or 112? Students in those 2 classes are all aiming for MSG = 1.00.
She uses 小蜜蜂 as her chinese written name! Her english name is short formed Bee Roger, her bigger sister in HCJC is called Happy Roger.
May I know what classes were the DSA students (academic) allocated to last year? mainstream pupils -

Unfortunately, anything that can be used as an indicator to compare or benchmark a child academic performance will always be of interest to parents and students alike.
yes, goal of AL system is not to chase after every last mark, but ESIS is not something the general population of pupils/parents will chase after. your rationale is based on the fact that people will start chasing for last mark if ESIS is based on raw scores. it could just be an internal protocol, not made known to the cohort taking psle.jkorompis\" post_id=\"2048481\" time=\"1637857789\" user_id=\"193874:

Unfortunately, that is the reality of the new AL system. Under this system, 90 is the new 100, there are no extra points for anything above 90. e.g. a student with a raw score of 99 99 99 89 will still be ranked lower than 90 90 90 90 in S1 posting.
The goal of the AL system is not to chase after every last marks, hence its unlikely MOE will use raw score marks to determine COP for ESIS., while using AL score for S1 posting. Between the 2, which do you think is more important? S1 posting or ESIS?
So using a selection process that is completely opaque to parents will be confusing and upsetting. this will certainly lead to parents writing into MOE for explanation and requesting raw scores for verification.
Under t-score, I believe 261 is the benchmark. Under the AL system, I believe it's AL5.
To do well under AL system, students need to be good at all 4 subjects. Whereas under t-score, students can afford to achieve high t-score even with 1 or 2 weaker subjects. Which is better or more deserving I think that is very subjective.
another parent has posted that AL5 is the cop for ESIS based on info on ACSI admission chatbot. and i thank him/her for the clarification. can close this discussion and move on. apologies if any comments confused or upset anyone -

Hi SG_KP1
Hi and congrats. Personally, with 7(M) I think RVHS is quite safe (M will help in the queuing despite being 3rd choice). Maybe not bulletproof (small risk as you say) but if you are also OK with 5th and 6th choice should something strange happen I would still suggest leaving 1st and 2nd choice as is. Good luck!SG_KP1\" post_id=\"2048367\" time=\"1637842373\" user_id=\"188234:
A daddy with boy getting AL7(M), staying in CCK area..
Any advise if we try following options? (using 2020 indicative COP)
1. HCI : 7(M)
2. ACS(I) IP : 7
3. RVHS : 9(D)
4. ACS(I) EXP : 9
5. BP Gov High : 11
6. Nan Hua High : 11(D)
What would the risk of RVHS as fallback plan in 3rd choice for AL7(M)? Little devil kind of whispering to me that there is small risk, given how many AL4/5/6 out there. Should we bump RVHS to 2nd choice?
BP Gov High & Nan Hua High are toss up, either can be 5th or 6th, as they are just plan C, and confidence level is high.
Why reading your reply made me feel that we are not aggressive enough? Haha..
Nevermind, we still have 5 days till 30th. Will give all the time to my boy to pick his choices.
By the way, I noticed some parents here trying to guess ESIS COP. I was tinkering around ACS(I) admission chatbot. In there, it is stated that ESIS COP for 2022 intake is AL5.
thanks for clarifying about that. -

with due respect, i think it doesn't make sense if ESIS purposely impose AL5 as the cut off for top 3%. The \" TOP 3%\" in itself means total raw scores logically. otherwise it is not fair to the AL6/AL7s whose scores are better than AL5s, whose efforts need to be rewarded.jkorompis\" post_id=\"2048222\" time=\"1637821161\" user_id=\"193874:

So far, no parents have reported any AL6 students getting ESIS yet. And I also doubt MOE will do anything like this to complicate the selection criteria because AL grade is now the new rating system.
Furthermore if AL6 + ESIS is better than AL6, then many parents and students go back to the old ways of chasing after 100 marks just to qualify for ESIS.
no parents here have reported AL6s getting ESIS could be the fact that they are not in this forum or prefer to be low profile.

Actually the offer for ESIS is under section C of the same form as the selection of school, it will only appear on the form for those students who are in the top 3%. The form is structured in this way:
I see, so the eligibility for the scholarship is only offered on psle results day. I understand about the DSA part. i was just thinking if it could be due to the fact that it's being offered to DSA students posted to independent schools First cos they r confirmed going into indep schools. As for the cut off, do they merely look at AL5/6 or the raw scores?jkorompis\" post_id=\"2048212\" time=\"1637818200\" user_id=\"193874:

If the child is eligible for ESIS, the child will be informed on PSLE results day, NOT upon posting to independent school. The part about DSA is just saying that regardless whether the child enters the independent school via S1 posting or DSA, the child will be eligible for ESIS as long as the results meet the ESIS cut off.
Section A: selection choices for 6 sec school
Section B: Option for third language (only appear for cohort top 10%)
Section
Option for ESIS (only appear for cohort top 3%)
Yes I do know ESIS is on the same form received as my DD has been offered and she is DSA student as well. I was just not sure if others posted to independent schools may receive later after S1 posting. Apparently many parents here have explained its only given out on same form on PSLE day, regardless of whether the kid already knew about where he/she is being posted to (indep or not)

a) Under T-score, the ESIS is around 261 to 262.
b) Under AL system ESIS is AL5
Which mean, under AL system, those AL6 or AL7 students with combined t-score of 262 and above will not be eligilble for ESIS, while in the past it may be possible

Actually AL5 may not be the cut off, cos ESIS letter may had been given to those who had been confirmed via DSA to an independent school. My rationale is that only those confirmed thru DSA going to Indep. schools got offered the scholarship first. need someone who's successful in dsa to an independent school and who scored AL6 to confirm if he/she got the scholarship too. other AL6s still need to go through posting to be placed in an indep. school. maybe by then , they will send out the eligibility letters. It seems that the criteria for ESIS has been changed from the previous years. Below os from moe website. I guess that students who got ESIS this time are those admitted to independent school through DSA.
_‐----------------------------------
\t
Awarded to the top one-third of students admitted to independent schools by PSLE score.
Students who meet the ESIS cut-off score and are admitted to independent schools under the Direct School Admission Exercise will also be offered the ESIS.
