Are you sure the words that you used like "ominously" are Primary 2 and 3 words? If so, that is really difficult!

Do you have vocabulary lists for older kids to learn? I have two sons in secondary school and I want them to learn more useful vocabulary.

MOE/NIE trained means little to me these days, as 'A' level students can teach a subject better than a trained teacher. They understand student issues and needs better. Most MOE/NIE trained teachers also do not apply what they have been taught in NIE - so why should they command a high price? Just because they have a teachers union card? Anyway, lets keep this for another thread.

I chanced upon this and completely agree with you. I have had previous experiences with very 'qualified' teachers with many years of experience. They also do not come cheap! But there are A level and uni grads that are equally capable to understand your child and introduce difficult concepts at their level. They work hard because they have much to prove. My kids are taught by two university students and I am pleased so far with their results.

Having said, some parents may not be comfortable with letting their child be taught by 22 year old, so it is as they say : To each his/her own.

When one of my children is stressed, one thing I realise is he will tell me that he feels ‘sick’ and does not want to go to school (even though he looks fine!).


I still take him to get an MC and rest at home. These kids need a break sometimes and I think the competition really gets to them.

What is the purpose of this list?


I am glad that MOE has done away with ranking of schools because each school has its pros and cons and should be evaluated on which is best suited for your child.

Aside from that, Penn88n has mentioned those that are generally and historically academically stronger.

My take is that it is A.
