A a fun fair, a bonus of 2 stickers was awarded for every 6 stickers won. Sam collected a total of 35 stickers. How many stickers did he actually win?

The model ans is 27 but it seems wrong.

Hi

use grouping concept ...

6 stickers won + 2 bonus stickers --> 8 stickers
ie for every group of 8 stickers won, there are 2 bonus stickers

35/8 = 4R3 --> 4 groups + 3 stickers
4 groups x 2 --> 8 bonus stickers
So, number of stickers actually won --> 35 - 8 = 27

cheers.

:thankyou: This grouping concept methid, looks faster for the bigger numbers. Thank you so much.
Welcome and :thankyou:

Thein,

Where did the 5 of 35/5 come from?

5 is the difference from the first iteration and second iteration.

60 - 55 =5

35 is the difference from the first iteration and final answer...

60 - 25 = 35

hope it helps.

Tan participated in a math quiz with 20 questions. For every correct answer, he was awarded 3 points. For every wrong answer, 2 points were deducted. If tan scored 25 points for the quiz, how many questions did tan answer correctly?

area of intersection=1

area of pebble path=1 x 24 + 1 x 8 - area of intersection=32 - 1

total area of the garden = 24 x 8 = 192

area not covered by path = 192 - 31 =161m2

The total mass of 3 cans of orange juice and 1 bag of potato chips is 1kg 200g.

If each can of orange juice is 120g lighter than each packet of potato chips, what is the mass of 1 packet of potato chips?
potato chips -----> u + 120
orange juice -----> 3u

u+120 + 3u = 1200

4u = 1080

u = 270
Mass of orange juice 270g

mass of 1 bag of potato chips = 270+120 =390 g

check:
3 x 270 = 810
270 + 120 = 390

810+390 = 1200
Jennifer has some cubes.her number of cubes is more than 20 but less than 40.if she puts them into packets of 6,there will be 1 cube left. If she puts them into Packets of 7, there are 3 cubes left. How many cubes does jennifer have?
Since number of cubes is more than 20 but less than 40

Hence the number of cubes Jennifer has is 31
