Travel: Australia - Gold Coast

Depending on individual’s threshold but will need a sweater. Can be cold (I have low threshold) in the nights if walking along the beach cos windy.
Am going after you for a week. Will be doing whale watching, Seaworld, Movieworld, Superbee farm, oyster farm, Mt Tamborine wineries and cheese farm and shopping at Harbour Town. Choosing between Australia Outback or Paradise Country as they seem similar. -

Hi!
I am new here and read about your trip and travel plans to Gold Coast. I will be visiting Gold Coast on 23rd May on a free and easy arrangement.
Can someone advise me on car rental companies?
I wanted to book thru Budget car rental and saw a cheaper quote by Apex Car Rental recently. The downside is that Apex is not located at the airport. I’m just concerned of the traveling time and luggage to lug all the way there. I will be traveling with my 9 year old daughter, just the two of us.
Advise is much appreciated.
Thanks! -
Hi ,
If you coming into Brisbane airport, Apex is definately the cheaper option. I tried them last year and although they are not located at the airport, they are quite near. They do provide pick up service but it is only between their business hours. Just give them a call from any public telephone, its a toll free number, and they will come and get you within 10mins. And its easy to transfer from their shuttle to your rental vehicle. I really like their service. Very friendly too. -
Thanks for your reply!
You seemed to be happy with their service. So, it is not a hassle you think? I was thinking of the steps - calling them, waiting and then transfer. But its cheaper by almost S$200. So kinda tempted to go for it. -
Can anyone advise - what can old folks do in Gold Coast? :scratchhead:

Yup they are cheaper than most of the car rental around that area and the fleet they have is worth the money. The car they gave me felt new. It was pretty well kept. Not much of dent/scratch/defects on the car. just the usual wear and tear. Anyway, the waiting area at the bus bay at Brisbane apt is pretty near to the exit at the arrival hall. The only downside is their operating hours. Else you got to pay extra to have/leave the car at the airport from them. But I have seen many good reviews on them. Plus they have this device for toll collection that is really cool. You pay per day (if i'm not wrong AUD$4/day) and dat's it. You dont need to pay any more toll even though you go thru it 10times a day. Save the hassle of going online and pay with your credit card.
Try them and i dont think you will regret it. If i say anymore, i am worried you might think i am promoting their business

Am bringing the seniors for my trip.
They are looking forward to the shopping at Harbour Town, whale watching and visits to the winery, cheese farm, ginger farm, bee farm and oyster farm. We also have plans to visit either Australia Outback Spectacular or Paradise Country. They can also watch the shows and performances at the worlds.
If time permits, we will also go to Eumundi market, glow worm cave. -
Does anyone knows if there is any SIM cards that can be purchased there for iphones?
Starhub charges $25 perday/100mb. Wanted to know if there is a cheaper option. -

Buy a local prepaid SIM card when u are there. U can choose either voice plus data or just data. Much cheaper than using your roaming.Does anyone knows if there is any SIM cards that can be purchased there for iphones?
