All About Montessori

It has been a long time since i last came into this forum… and finally… i enrolled my son to a montessori based school after brain washing my hb!!! EYM… and realise that there a ppl talking about this school…
I went for the school observation. I would say that the kids there are very well behave. They do things on their own and they are quite independent. Their theme for this term is Marine Life and by now they have brought them to the Marine life park…
Further to that, during observation, I notice the kids asked intelligent questions…
After half hr of observation plus talking with the principal, finally decided enroll him there…
p.s. the principal is a bit weird though… but it doesnt bother me… hahaa…
The next qn is… after putting him in a fully montessori based school, should i bring him out for a more academic based school in K1 or K2 as a transition period to Pri 1.
Still worrying about him not able to catch up in Pri 1 and lose interest in learning vis-a-vis stressing him too much… stress -

Anyone heard of young genius Montessori enrichment ?

I was not able to find a good full day montessori based childcare in Bishan area. So had to settle for a normal one…though i would really prefer a montessori one.
Any idea if there are any schools that have 2hr montessori parent-child class during the weekend in the east?
My child is coming 2yr old this June.
Thanks -
Hi,
Anyone keen to buy regular sized montessori materials? I have the following: red rods , knobbed cylinders (4x) and knobless cylinders (4x). They are all BNIB, except for 2 of the knobbed cylinders which is barely used.
Was planning to use it at home with my child but decided to send her to a monte school instead since I started travelling for work.
Pls PM me or email me at [email protected] if you are interereted. -
My 5 year old kid attends Chinese Montessori preschool @ TD Education near Paya Lebar MRT, 3 hours daily.
The school developed comprehensive and interesting text/workbooks which are also use at NTU Confucius Institute enrichment class and many childcare centres (e.g. St James, Innate Montessori etc). My kid's favorite place is the library, which comprises > 4000 books and he has cultivated the habit of reading 4 books daily.
From a kid who refuses to speak mandarin transforming to one who can't stop using Chinese daily in a short span of time, kudos to the teachers. They have definitely exceeded our expectation.
The school conducts enrichment classes too and coming June, there is a Holiday Chinese Program for Kids. Also, there is a Free Workshop for Pre-primary kids on 1st June. Refer to the website for more info. (http://www.tdgrp.com.sg) -

Hi Mommy (cannot bring myself to address you as 'Brainkuku'
is your child in pm session?
not to worry abt all the stress the P1 transition. The children are
able to progress because they are adaptable. They must be given a
motivating environment. They will become self learners.

Hi Mommies and Buds,
I am pretty new to this threat. I tried to read from the first page but I skip a lot of pages in between and finally I reach page 166… haa
I have a stupid question. Is all the schools name with “Montessori” are Montessori branches and all are using Montessori method to teach the kids? Sorry I am a bit blur…
Actually, I have a 15 mth old son and wanted to look for a good preschool when he turns 18th month or 2 yo. Currently he is taken care by my mum.
I am comparing a few premium schools, one of it has quite a number of negative feedback from the parents. I decided to look out for Montessori. I am moving to Serangoon area by end of this year. Understand that Nex has a Montessori preschool too, any feedback on this school?
May I know why you are choosing Montessori instead of other schools like cherrie hearts? I am sorry for posting such question here as I haven’t visited any preschool yet except for the one in Aroozoo but I think I will give it a miss…
Looking forward to your comments.
Btw, buds, I am quite impressed with your “chubs” as he can do a lot of things which my 15th month old son still never try. I wonder where you bought those “toys” or “materials” for your son?
Thank you so much for the sharing… -
Hi anyone visited innat montessori at corporation place? Any views on the school? Also how abt summer montessori? Thanks!!!
-
Like to ask, What is ur views on child care (half day) or those 3.5 hours curriculum for montessori school?
-
Bud, I read your many wonderful post. Thanks for sharing and keep it up. I really marvel how you manage your kids all on your own!
I am currently exploring montesorri curriculum. My girl is in a non-montesorri school. I have no plans to move her out. This school emphasis alot on project work, speech etc. Probably the direct opposite of what montesorri offers where it is more self based learning.
However, I am thinking of puting my girl thru a 1-2 hours weekly course in montesorri as i kind of like their maths and phonic program. What are your views? will this 1-2 hours program work? I dun want to waste unnecessary $.
Is there a diff between montesorri phonic vs other phonic like letterland?
i need advice. Super confuse!!! how nice if there is only one program and then mummies dun need to get too worried which program to choose!!!
