My personal views on \"good\" schools in North East :

        * PLMGS - COP is 230+ range. They raise affiliation COP which is good as it raise the overall cohort standard.
        * Xinmin - COP is 230+ range. Heard it is one of the better schools in NE area. But their COP has been dropping (probably due to demand) and also read about some fighting incidents sometime last year.
        * Maris Stella High School - COP 230+ range. SAP school. :xedfingers: ds can get into MSHS.
        * Zhonghua - COP 230+ range. Always see kids around in this uniform. Was surprised to learn that their COP is 230+ range.

HIHS is the 220+ range. Personally won't classify it as a \"good\" sec school.

Zhonghua sec is a good school and has smaller intake plus strict discipline.

The students very seldom loiter ard in their school uniforms.
If you see many of them at Serangoon Nex, it’s because the school is nearby.

My son taking PSLE this yr (2013) & wants to go to a secondary school in Tampines either Ngee Ann or St. Hilda’s but we will be moving to Sengkang next year. Any idea what is the best way to travel to & from Tampines & Sengkang by public transport?

don’t choose schools that are too far or having to change few buses. curriculum in secondary is very very packed. almost everyday staying back for cca or supplementary or those that they do not understand, stay back to ask teachers. try to find a school that lets the kids spend least time on the road. else will be too tiring for them. especially when they are in s3/4 preparing for "O" levels.

btw, i agree that good secondary schools are not judged by the cutoff but by the production of good "O" level results and also character building and exposure. May I know where I can find the 2011 link for the banding please?

Unfortunately, MOE does not publish Banding anymore, which I find very unhelpful. I would go as far to say that it is such a stupid move as it deprives us of useful information when it comes to selecting secondary school for our DC.

My DS is in Sec 1 now and I used that information to help narrow down his choices of secondary schools based on his PSLE result.

However, some secondary schools still \"privately\" tout this banding. Perhaps, people with such info can contribute on kiasuparents?
