Can counselling help for PSLE results ?

Wow, pressure tactics… if you are the type who cannot tahan such tactics and cave in, then don’t even go for the previews. Maybe should spend the money on the famous subject tutors who include motivation instead.

With just 4 months to go, time spent revising and reinforcing is definitely better than the few thousand on those motivational talks. Like what was mentioned, be very cautious when any educator promises outcomes which are hard to predict. We are talking about nation wide exam.

Ask them for guarantee like refund if your child doesn't get that 250?
I went with DS3 once on one of the presentations (we were invited and I didn't know what it was actually until the introduction). The parents were given a presentation while the children were given about 20 - 30 mins of 'training'. It was very impressive when the children were able to spell and group certain words which they were unable to do so before the 'training\".
After the session came the hard selling. The gentleman tried to convince me how DS3 will perform well in school if he attend their courses. From the way he talked to me I guessed most parents who show interest by attending their talk are desperate to get their children to peform :siam:. When I told him DS3 performance in school (after he asked, of course) he was   like \"ya, your DS3 doesn't need this\".
BTW DS3 told me that the technique that they used were taught to him in school. I can't remember but it may be somebody that the school outsourced. Schools do have people to come in to conduct certain sessions like \"how to discover your learning style\" etc. -
Be careful of those who promise you the sun, moon and stars.
Is it possible to score 250 and above listening to motivational speakers ?
Demand for refund if child doesn’t get that cop? These people do hard sell. Ultimately, it still boils down to whether the child wants to work hard, or not. -

I have a psychologist doing motivation sessions for my kids. They are not the only kids under her. I also attend parenting sessions with her.yes, it is not a small sum to pay for the motivation talk... but for parents with kids that won't listen the them and near blood vomiting stage... maybe thats the last resort that the parent will go for... to take the risk of throwing thousand over dollars to the drain.
These motivational agent is aiming for those parent who can't help their own child and is at their wits end, and thats the time the parent will buy their story due to no choice... But if there is any sucessful stories, pls share here...
She was able to rightly identify certain behaviours in the kids and because we had been seeing her for a couple of years, we are able to work on it over the years and in that sense, it had been useful.
Some of the things taught are discussed in the book \"Internal Drive Theory\" as well as in the advice by some of the parents here. -
My friend is doing a course on NLP to be a life coach and she is practising it on me for fun. It’s more about goal setting and "hypnotising" your mind to work towards those goals. I find it difficult as my mind is always too distracted or resistant to do all those channelling of thoughts and emotions. So for such coaching sessions to work, the kid must have an accepting mind in the first place.

Totally agreed with cherrygal! I have learned alot of tips from ks forum and parents here are kind enough to share their tips. I got a good recommendation of a tutor who is well-versed in teaching and sharing motivating my kids.
Seeing my gals scoring all Band 1 for this MYE really encourages me. Every single cent is worth it. -

I would be a little concerned about this - shouldn't we want our kids to have minds of their own and make decisions for themselves? What if the coach has values different from the parents?
