      Applaud 'TheAnswer'! Agree with you!

In every we task we do,there is a always a risk.
      \"No Pain,No gain\".
Fear -fear of failure-is the main reason that many do not dare to venture into any type of business.

When one realise the he/she is doing more than their partner,do not let it continue like that, talk it out,and if it does not work leave them before it is late.I would like to quote the famous saying\"The one who get cheated is the biggest sinner than the one who cheats.\"

Hi worrisome_dad, I don’t see any reason that you should get so emotional over our replies. I don’t think anyone posted anything directly against you.

What I can agree on with Grandmaster TheAnswer is that your friend’s business experience doesn’t proof that the education business - specifically setting up of a tuition centre - is in your words "very unstable and volatile". What you have explained in that post shows that your friend made many bad business decisions mainly due to the lack business and tutoring experience before the set-up.

It was great that you bothered to share your knowledge and thoughts but we too were just sharing ours. Believe it or not, the education industry continues to remain as one of the most lucrative industry. In fact, its a lot more stable than most other business - especially retail.

I once worked at a tuition centre. It had 3 very tiny classrooms & the outside was packed groceries for sale. It didnt have a proper signboard & all its tutors - expect the owner (graduate) - were undergraduates. It survived for several years before I joined them and continue to survive today - still in the same haphazard way. While working there, we face similar problems too. Students playing truant, demanding to be let off early, work not done, disrupting classes, non-payment of tuition fees, demands for refunds, demand for the classes to start later etc. but it is all part and parcel of the business.

Can u PM me your centre too? Thanks

To rains & meinteel, I am not angry or emotional. Infact, i replied in kind & style to TheAnswer Kiasu Grandmaster. Looks like she is more emotional & angry than me. I have already make peace with her after she made it clear that she has no hard feelings. Looks like she had exited from this forum after i have logged in, being away from a long businesss trip. I do miss the drama she injected into this forum ... 😄

Give our personal experiences and the lessons we learnt from other failed tuition centres, we decided that we can offer an excellent solution to teachers who want to set up their own tuition centre.

We provide a platform for teachers to set up their very own tuition centre with low upfront costs and a monthly fee. We significantly reduce the risk for teachers who want to be business owners. Our model allows you to become profitable very quickly and you only need a small number of students to breakeven.

                  Who we are looking for
We can only work with a limited number of teachers given the space constraints. Hence, we only want very high quality, committed, responsible and popular teachers. The better you teach, the better this platform will work for you.

We strongly prefer ex or current MOE teachers or full time tutors with more than 7 years experience and a very successful track record in improving student's grades.
Such teachers will be more marketable and hence, more successful for our platform.

I would love to see replies to jkids too!

On a separate note - why would a tuition center spinning off 50% profit a year be letting go (saw them on businesses for sale)? It is good money for the owners!
