my friend ever told me that coz the approach is so unlike the normal O level, it’s not easy to find suitable tutors. So the kids relied mainly on their teachers…after all, they are mostly clever kids.

So in the end, it actually cost less going to Independent schools coz of the $$$ saved on not having tuition.

Maybe some parents already aware but just to share that the fees for independent schs are much higher than gov schs. Perhaps can find out more about the various scholarships available during the open house.

Actually the fees are posted on the schools' websites. Did a quick google:

            RGS $300 (excluding supplementary fees)
            ACS $325
            MGS $335
            Nanyang $312.50
            Hwa Chong $250

Btw, does anyone know if the class size of these independent schools are smaller than those of government schools?

I heard from a mummy whose child is in SST, that the class size is less than 25. (Unlike dd's current P5 class which has more than 40 kids and the children do not get much individual attention. )

              Hi Lego,

I was wondering abt the class size of independent schools. It’s always good in smaller class. ds class has 44 students and only 16 girls in the whole class. The boys make so much noise that the teacher cannot teach!

Where are you all? two more days to go. :rahrah: :rahrah:

Does ur child revise day before exam?
Sunday, he didn't cooperate to revise. I cannot let him as I feel is very important to revise the important points. He is easily forget and get wrong. How do u all do? I think, for CA2, I would try never revise at all, the day before exam.

some more independent sch fees here...

                  SCGS (Sch + Misc Fees)
                  O Level - $285
                  IP - $335

                  SJI (Sch + Misc Fees)
                  O level - $340
                  IP - $380
                  IBDP - $550
                  RI (Sch + Misc Fees)

                  $300 + $35 = $335

Agree.. Zero tuition for my DS1.. 😄

For some, tuition can cost close to 1K per month.. :scared:

all depends on the kids and parents...... if the kids are top 1% with their absorption rate incredibly great, they can learn, understand faster and remember longer.... but for majority who are not top 1% but not giving up may have to turn to tuition.....
