Thank you! still considering if i should get one... since i'm waiting for my Happy call pan...Nemofc,
I think its a bit different between the 2. For cast iron pots, u can brown your meats, saute, stir fry in the pot before deglazing. You can't do that with clay pot as it may cause the pot to crack. However, due to it earthern properties, somehow claypot rice and soup seems to taste better in these claypot esp when cook over a charcoal.
For me, i cook soup and porridge in my cast iron, no issue. But when it come to claypot rice, it becomes a bit tough to get the crusty burnt rice at bottom. -
Hi,
I saw a promotion for La Gourmet Cast iron pan/pot at OG - wondering if there are any reviews about this particular brand? thanks -
Reviving this thread. Anyone has any comments on the La Gourmet range of cast iron cookware? It’s a lot cheaper than the La Creuset and Staub. Wondering about the quality.

I feel that La Gourmet pdts do not hv a smooth finish at the edges compared to other brands. -

I am a big fan... it's more like a fetish, lol.
Although I don't cook, maybe only cook like 5x a year that kind of lousy home mistress, but I am so in love with Le Crueset :please:
Shall read every post in this thread.....
Thanks, Jtoh, for reviving the thread.... eventhough I don't cook, so may not be able to give detail feedback, but I am just too glad that i can read anything about it.

Jtoh, I’ll go ask and will revert. My guess is Thailand.
All cast iron are the same except for the enamel coating. They still rust where there’s no coating especially the edges. My Le Creuset also rust (edging) if not in use for a week. They need to be air dried thoroughly before placing in the cabinet with rubber bumper on before the cover. Btw, there are Le Creuset that are made in Thailand too. -

For the 'raw' areas, it is recommended to coat the area with cooking oil especially if not used for a long time?Jtoh, I'll go ask and will revert. My guess is Thailand.
