      Thanks, John. Now I think about it, it could have been my meetings with his teachers. One of his teachers even made it a big deal in his class because that particular teacher is not his form teacher and also not mother tongue teacher. So, it is very rare for her to get a meeting request from a parent. I can feel that my son was happy that I made an effort to meet a lot of his teachers to talk about him.


      Those were also my first meetings with his teachers outside PTM. I had never done that before. During the meetings, he was next to me listening to my conversation with his teachers. His teachers pointed out his weaknesses and how to overcome them.

      I think after those meetings, things went smoother and smoother. He understood why we insist on him reading newspaper everyday, why I told him not to write about death in his compo all the time, why he needs to do certain things, etc. Because it is easier to ask him to do something, I nagged less and I guess it makes him a happier boy too ๐Ÿ˜‰

      I hope my sharing can benefit other PSLE parents ๐Ÿ˜„

      I hope my DS would peak soon too! Hopefully schools won't pile on too much homework, otherwise there's no time for the kids to work on their individual weaknesses.

        Hey! I did nothing...you are the mommy who cares enough to make it work for your child...so the effort is 1000% yours and yours alone...

        Do share more of your ups (and downs) too with us so we can learn from you... ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

        You may also want to just \"discuss\" or chit chat with your child and hear from him. We may be surprised what he got to share...

          Thanks, Clay569. The teachers really gave a lot of homework. Luckily they didn't give any homework at all during SA1 otherwise we won't have enough time to revise at all.

          Next challenge: Prelim.

            There are a few approaches to maintaining the peak or getting higher...

            One of the best ones I feel is to rework foundation and make it stronger and more solid than before.

            Go back to basics and your DS may soon be able to appreciate the theory behind those topics and how they are all interconnected...

            When connections are made, this is when learning really come alive and your child will experience another peak...

                  Since my definition of โ€˜peakโ€™ is different from John Yeoโ€™s, Iโ€™d just like to make a few comments. From my experience, the โ€˜peakโ€™ that I describe is by definition fairly short-lived, maybe a couple of weeks in duration. No-one can maintain that sort of high level of readiness for long periods - thatโ€™s called a plateau! Sportmen, armies etc all build towards a short period of high intensity of performance. So if you child peaks now, I think itโ€™s best to let there be a โ€˜valleyโ€™ or his energy and motivation may peter out. You can aim to have a lower peak around the prelims, but aim for the major peak around the PSLE when it really counts.

                    Thanks all for the input on how to revise for June.I now have an a clearer idea of how to plan & what to focus instead of giving chunks to exhaust DS before the PSLE! Suggestions on doing only selective challenging questions are also valuable because I feel that DS should focus on the 2-4 marks questions rather than spending too much time on solving 5 marks. That area is not his forte. :thankyou:

                        Hi happyheart,

                        dd FT kept telling us to focus on basics. He said usually for PSLE paper, there are only 1-2 very tough questions. The rest are really back to basics. Don't because of those few marks question and lose the entire big picture.

                        He always tells us to focus on basics. Make sure they kids score full marks in section A so passing is never a issue. The next is points accumulation to get better grades in paper 2.
