Feed DS is actually a challenge or could be easy, depending on how you view it. He is quite a picky eater and lately he has this thing about eating only 1 dish with his rice. Cannot have a 2nd dish.

Your son should come and live in my house - almost all meals are just 1 dish. When I have a 2nd dish, everyone comments on it!

I am so sian of my maid's cooking that I started to suggest eating out 2 to 3x a week. I can't cook so I don't know how to teach her yet she is also not innovative enough to create a variety of dishes from that few groceries that I buy (we don't eat pork out of respect for maid). What can I do here? Are there any easy recipes with minimal ingredients/sauces to intro thanks

Btw, I always buy back the same food because I don't know what else can be cooked with those other food that I do not buy, when I send my maid to do the marketing instead, she bought back exactly what I would have bought too.
Look through the dishes here and in the 1-dish meal thread, and then tell your maid what you want her to cook. I believe there are cooking courses for maids too, you may want to ask around.

I dunno what is it, saw RASAM = maybe can be use as assam???

                Ingredients:
Coriander, Chili, Tumeric, Cumin, Fennels, Black pepper, Urid Dhal, Toor Dahl, Mustard, Curry leaves, Asafoetida, Garlic, Common salt, Critic acid.

                Edit:

just google, it is used to make Southern Indian soup. Supposed to be hot n sour = can be used to cook assam fish lah :rahrah: (my conclusion)

Hope everything is ok for you.

Dinner: DH wanted fish head steamboat. Although it was super yummy, I told him no more steamboats in this crazy weather!!! I think I nearly suffered a heatstroke while having dinner!!!

                        Dora1:

Any other ideas??? Anything that I can prepare the night before and have minimal preparation in the morning (like the thermal pot) and cooking in the evening??
Any ideas would be much appreciated! I'm getting sick of my own food :slapshead:
Here's what I hv have cooked before. Some of them featured regularly in our household menu.
                        - stir fried bee boon (end result like char bee hoon)
                        - stir fried bee hoon and noodles (end result like hokkien friend prawn mee)
                        - steam egg + minced pork/ steam egg + mushroom
                        - steam tofu with marinated minced pork
                        - baked tomatoes with cheese
                        - stir fried tomatoes w eggs
                        - \"hot plate\" egg tofu w assorted veg
                        - stir fried broccoli
                        - steam broccoli + carrot
                        - baked drumletts (bought from supermarkets those frozen and marinated one's)
                        - baked beans w luncheon mat and potatoes
                        - Kimchi + cold tofu and/or Japanese cucumber
                        - mee suah soup (if u cook soup regularly. Just add some slices of fish, mushroom and veg)
                        - Ready pack jap. Curry w rice ( add more steamed veg and/or chicken)
                        - steam fish fillet
                        - stir fried fish slices + assorted veg
                        - baked fish fillet
                        - Hongkong style instant noodles (I usually replace with elbow pasta. Just add luncheon meat, sunny side up and veg, if u have prepared soup)
