I was a skeptic & have been thinking abt whether to buy this till now. I love gadgets but somehow the comments I've read didn't move me to buy it, mainly because I am happy with my toaster & conventional oven & the fact that some have said it tasted more like bbq than fried. I love fried foods

Finally, I bought it on impulse. I tried it yesterday:

      1) chicken wings (cut into 2 parts) - I followed the recipe which calls for heating @ 160 degrees for 8 min then @ 200 degrees for 4 mins
The wings didn't turn out as crispy & evenly golden brown as I liked.

      2) frozen fries - this turns out excellent! Exciting!

      3) boneless chicken leg - this turns out even better than using my toaster or conventional ovens! the skin is totally golden brown crisp & the meat remains tender & juicy! very impressed liao! But I tweaked the cooking guide cos my chicken wings didn't turn out great when I followed the cooking guide. I used 200 degree for 12 min & it's perfect.

      4) leftover mcwing & fried kidney kuay - reheated this two & they turn out as fresh as just cooked. Unlike when they are reheated in toaster oven which sometimes turns out still sogged in oil.

I have no regrets getting this gadget. I liked the fact that it's no hassle to 'refresh' foods or purge out the oil in fried foods.

I have a qn though - the cleaning instructions didn't mention abt the hot coil above the pan. I can hear oil splattering in the pan during cooking. How do you clean that ?

just use kitchen towel to wipe it

for those waiting for the price to drop ,
wait a while more as 2 nd version coming soon .

I contemplate buying one. Selling at Mega at $269 this weekend.

But when I check the Air Fryer, I find it cannot be cleaned at the top of the heating coil, unless you can somehow unscrew it. Not sure if this can be done.

If just wipe, you can only clean the outer surface ofthe top plate. But, further inside, cannot clean. In the long run, won't it be unhealthy if leftover oil stains are left inside the unit?

I did taukwa in the fryer but coated with a thin layer of oil. It just doesn’t taste as good without any oil.

Anyone used the Mayer Air Fryer? Saw on AllAsia.com selling at $269 and comes with an additional tray.

I called up and was told that it is exactly the same as Philips and made from the same factory with the same technology, but slightly different in outward appearance.

also, I saw on ST advertisement on Sat (can’t remember which retailer) selling Philips Air Fryer at $408!! It is supposed to be on promotional offer. Any idea why so expensive? It is a new model?

            Thanks.

                        Hi peeps,

I want to share something really interesting with you guys. We love fried food, dont we? All of us do.

For those who are extremely health conscious, this is an essential kitchen appliance you need. I had bought it 2 days ago & i'm loving it already. It works for all kind of frying. It reduces oil by 80%. U can make cupcakes too, i'm assuming you can bake a cake as well. A baking tray & recipe book is included as well. To improve the taste a little, i added olive oil or butter. Chicken can be fried easily as it has animal fat as well.

NTUC is having a promo & its going for $279.
