My neighbour's son is in St Stephen. I feel that because it is an all boys school - the boys tend to be very rough with no act of gentlessness within them. As a result, teachers have to scream and shout to get their point across resulting in the boys learning such behaviours are appropriate. Thus is is a vicious circle. Can anyone give their inputs on which school is Bette? St Stephens or TKPS? In terms of both character development and preparing for PSLE.
I have a boy registering in p1 this year. My son is a bit shy type so I first thot an all boys school may not be suitable...
But hear that at Stephens standard has gone up recently due that one single boy!
Also perhaps balloting will be tougher for this year. In any case we are Singaporeans so not much of impact, hopefully!!
We are alumni for TKPS but beyond 2 km of. At Stevens. Based on school records, there was no balloting last year beyond 2 km.
But before all that consideration, more importantly, which school is better as of date?
Thanks so much for all ur thots!!
Do you live within East Coast as well? I am looking for a son for my boy and I am contemplating Ngee Ann as reviews are good about this school especially now with the new principal. Havent heard much about TKPS though (maybe wasnt in that radar)
. is this the school with the green cute uniform?

Thanks! Re the boys part, I thot of the Asame thing.
And from a character perspective may not be ideal as compared to co Ed school.
But it seems the standard of st Stephens has gone up? Is that true? From an academic standpoint?
Also, st Stephens is affiliated so I get tempted.
Is it pOSSIBLE that I apply under phase 2a2 and reserve seat at TKPS and then if there are good chances in at Steven, in case I decide for that, to pull out and quickly apply to at Stevens, under phase 2c? -

Yes, you may do that. However, please take note that should your child be unsuccessful during P2C (touch wood), you will not be able to go back to TKPS to claim the place that you already gave up. So, please consider carefully. -
qms:
You cannot just consider just 1 year of good results and then make a decision that standard has gone up. Consistency should be an every year affair (like NAPS).Mama_ambitious:

By the way why aren't u considering NAPS? Seems standard is slightly higher and going to remain so with the new very, very on the ball principal.
Repeating: If you are an alumni, don't give up your chance and lose it to another school that you are not even sure you will get in. -
Understand that TNS will be shifting to temp site at Bedok in 2014. Anyone knows if the P1 vacancies will be drastically reduced becuase of it? As it stands, 360 vacancies for previous years.
Need to know my chance and make contigency plan. Btw, i am former student. -
Thanks for those thoughts. I can’t go to naps as try do not offer hindi as second language.
Yup, perhaps to be safe than sorry!
I guess for me, it’s only because I feel that at Stevens is affiliated, to take a risk now then in PSLE ! -

Neighbourhood schools the best option!
If get into a poppular school - it is not just torturous process now (with ballotting and all) but also for the next 6years for a child’s life and of course the poor mummy and daddy too!
Popular school…nah for me… -
