Not in p4,but true, the English ppr is quite difficult for me last yr

My dd's entire class was silent today. All in a state of shock over language results. Totally diff scenario from Maths and science, which is so strange cos typically girls are good in languages!

Heard the P5s did v well for English. 3 kids got 37/40! Unless my DD info is wrong haha.

Maybe the p4 paper harder coz they will be first batch to take the new psle syllabus? Kinda like new syllabus for the p4 too.

If this is the new PSLE syllabus, I personally feel that it is tougher than previous papers.

DD did well during doing previous year GEP paper. I was shocked when he told me that none in his class pass the baseline!! :lightrod:

For the English paper alone, 28/40 is baseline. For the entire semester, it’s the usual 70/100.

Note that paper is 40percent while daily work, projects, assignments is worth 60percent. I think the latter will help to pull up the final marks.

My DD did well for her mock papers too and is strong in English. Near full marks or full marks every year, so understandably she’s a bit stunned. Have not seen paper yet just heard about marks, really dunno what’s going on. Sigh. DD’s teacher says she’s very sad, imagine the kids!

Hopefully future EL papers won't be such killers. Hope this was just a fluke set by some over zealous bunch.
@meekopeeko: your child is in which year now?

P4 only. The fantastico English marks are for pre-GEP days lah. My DD joked that she "used to be" brillliant in English! Looks like a lot of cloze passage for June…

                  Ragamuffin, how about your kid?

May I know if your kids are allowed to bring home the exam papers?

She did okie by the sounds of it. Slightly over baseline.
Ya... Definitely must do more cloze. Her answers were quite funny actually...but still wrong.
