      Dino mummy:

I agree last year was result was good..all band 1. Not this year 😢

Without Oral and Compo, already 70+. With these 2 sections added, it will drag his score further.
I accepted that already since everyone is saying there will defintely a difference in score compared to P4.

      Dino mummy,

Your boy takes Normal Chinese, right (I read somewhere that you chose to opt him out of HCL. Please forgive me if I remembered wrongly.)? When the teachers return the scripts to the students, will you be able to kindly feedback what you think about the paper? Difficult or easy? At least it will let me be psychologically prepared and not end up too http://media.photobucket.com/user/karate_man_mike/media/Random/O_O.gif.html next year. As it is, my boy's SA1 results so far have already made me http://media.photobucket.com/user/denistephenson/media/SMILEYS/smiley_text/JC_faint.gif.html.

      Hi QMS
Saw the chinese paper..I wont say it is a very difficult one. He lost marks in compreh, his chinese standard is weak...Many at times, can't undertsand what the passage is about hence unable to answer. Hence, copying words by words from the passage.
He said he probably cant only get a B cos the teacher told the class that only 5 in the class scored a A for Chinese so he think he should not be the one of the 5. Have to see till he get the report book as he doesn't have the marks for his compo and oral yet.

Do teachers deduct marks for copying from the passage in the Compre OE section?

Wow! Only five scored A for Chinese in the class? And your boy is in the top 2 classes! http://media.photobucket.com/user/ezgoin_photos/media/Scared.gif.html

My girl tells me that her teacher has said the comprehension questions are supposed to be asked in such a way that is quite difficult to copy large parts from the passage. She also has a bad habit of copying everything and loses marks when her answers don’t really fit. And P5 has 10 questions, even more marks to lose!

            Dear Teh Tarik
Your DD is also in P5?
Yah...in fact it applies to English Compreh too. Must answer to the questions, cant give a range of answers...teacher said if given a range of answers means the child does not understd the qns hence marks will be deducted. I suppose P5 onwards, markings are stricter.

            QMS,
marks are deducted here and there...
Still din get the final score for chinese, teacher din reveal the oral and compo marks to him so not sure what is the final score.

Anyway, he is not disappointed nor upset over his results, care-less attitude loh...This June holday, must made him to work on those weak areas....

Actually, marks were deducted from my girl last year because of this and she was only in P2! :faint:

So, maybe it should be from P2 onwards, not P5. :nailbite:

I wonder when the school will ever release results for the individual components to parents. 🤷 Seems like we are in the same world as Peter Pan.

:hi5: Yet, another similarity in our kids.

It seem like comprehension the kids are required to use thier own words to answer the questions instead of copying from the passage. I wonder does the school teacher teach them the technique in doing this. :imanangel:

The school is finally getting its (long awaited) fresh coat of paint! 🕺

However, I was appalled when I saw how the painters carried out their job. They were not safety conscious at all! I witnessed a near-miss accident. Luckily nobody was injured.

What was more appalling was that the school staff seemed nonchalant about it. It won't reflect well on the school should there be any accident.

Let's hope the whole project proceeds smoothly without any LTI.

This is an enrichment course. It is not compulsory. If you are interested in enrolling your child for the program, you will have to pay.
