I believe there is no hard and fast rules as to how to apply it.

Eg.

我一边冲凉， 一边唱歌。

It's not like it's wrong to sing in the bath.

But 我一边唱歌, 一边冲凉certain doesn't sound too right.

Correct me if I'm wrong.
