Hi, thks to everyone here for sharing!

I wouldn’t where or who to ask abt dsa if not for this forum.

ds chance is probably not high but no harm trying.

Thinking of trying 2 schools only, NUSH and ACSI.

Acsi is IB, thus language will be pretty critical......

Thanks R3mom & jtoh for the reply.

ie my child can still use the affiliation status during S1 if we put affiliation secondary as our 1st choice (that is, provided meet the cut-off points set by the school)?

You will understand better if you refer to the flowchart for DSA http://www.moe.gov.sg/education/admissions/dsa-sec/flowchart/

i believe the answer is yes ...

I think so too. His English is average but Chinese really cannot make it.

He participated in Robocup this year and his team managed to get 5th place, hope he can do better next year and maybe can help in DSA.

              Hi Lurline,
I'm not sure if Plat or Gold awards means sure get the DSA offer, but definitely will have much higher chances to get into the selection rounds.

DS only managed Silver awards in his NMOS & SMOPS, but he managed to get COs from RV and ACSI, WL from NUSH. For HCI, I believe he failed at the interview round. Just sharing for your reference.

I will be letting DD attempt DSA this year too via Maths domain. While I read that she can be exempted from the GAT for one of the schools, that doesn't mean she's guarantee any DSA offer.....still have to go through the whole process. Shall wait till then to know the outcome.

              Hi BeContented,

I've received ds results. As expected, he did very well for Maths (98) and science (90) but 2 B for languages. I think his total is around 81%.

What was yr child overall percentage when he applied for dsa thru Maths? Does it matter if the overall percentage is not high?

              Thks!
Hi lurline,
DS was ~90% for both his P5 SA2 and P6 SA1 with high marks in Maths and the rest all A. Like what Nebbermind mentioned, I tend to think that the schools will only look at the past years' results after the HAST/GAT.

For DS, I had not planned for DSA, so was not aware of those RSO / SPSO etc. In fact, I had to thank the sch for signing him up for NMOS, Annual Mathlympics, RIPMWC and SMOPS. It was because he managed to bag some awards that I realised no harm trying ;). FYI, DS is also from a true-blue neighborhood school and we were not expecting much, so we were rather fortunate to get some COs. I guess chances at ACSI & NUSH should be higher than top tiers. One good point is all applicants are treated equally & have to go through the same selection process. 🙂
Hi, I am not sure this has been asked before.

If my child is from an affiliated primary school and has received a wait list from one of the top schools during the DSA process. If we put down this WL as our first and only choice during exercise period, what happened if the WL is not converted to CO during PSLE results day? Can my child use the affiliation status and apply to the secondary school using the affiliated secondary school cut-off points during S1?

If your child's WL doesn't materialize into a CO, he will be given an S1 Central Posting Form to apply. He can indicate his sec school choices then.

                    Hi All,

Any idea what does DSA interviews cover?
Is it individual or group interview?

                    TIA!

Now that results are out, can start thinking about DSA. Just realized that closing date for Hwa Chong/RI and RGS/NYGH so far apart. ( referring to GE domain)

A soft reminder to all parents:

                      For Boys,
Closing date for Hwa Chong: 3 June 2013
Closing date for RI: 14 June 2013

                      For Girls,
Closing date for RGS: 2 July 2013
Closing date for NYGH: 5 July 2013

                      Good luck to everyone! 🙂

Seems like girls have more time to prepare for DSA. A bit too rush for the boys right? Especially Hwa Chong.
