Hi lsj, my DS still under her. She teaches P3 to P6.

She has students traveling from Jurong to her class too. We r not near her as well.
What my DS like abt her is she explains concepts very clearly. She's also able to motivate the child very well to do better.
Before her I was at my wit's end as my DS was failing his Maths.
Mrs Lee is a godsend and now my son is ranging at 70s jus after 6mths.
Am definitely signing my DD with her next yr for P5!

      Good Luck!

I was at Mrs Lee to enquire. I think she teach only English. Ok, its not really my cup of tea. The centre is open concept. Children of different level seat in a big room. Maybe about 20 of them. It appear they are randomly seated and seem to be doing different things. Mrs Lee will go around to coach the kids. This teaching model may work for some children but certainly it will not work for mine.

Hi, think u at wrong place. She's on 10th flr and her class has only 8-10 students n she only teaches Math. You prob saw the Eng tutor there? šŸ˜“

      Hi zenn74 and ruigal,

Sorry for the very late reply.. have been really busy lately..

The competition has been really exciting and indeed all the competitors have been splendid! It's an eyeopener for a 1st time competitor's mummy.

If you are only looking for a school i suppose there are a lot of quite well know names in the market... but if you believe in finding your darlings a really good teacher to give her the proper and very strong foundation, i would definitely recommend Sissonne Dance Art..

Yes Dance Thrilogy has indeed won a lot of awards in the competition.. but as far as i know its also a newly started school where I'm pretty sure most of the dancers have been well trained by their previous teacher with strong foundations. Of course not denying the effort of the current teachers at the current stage.

Well if you ask my personal opinion, of course winning in a competition is a recognition for the dancers, but winning is not everything in the world. A really strong foundation and skill in a dancer will definitely bring the dancer further and to a much higher level. So you have to be clear at what you are looking for. For me my girl's interest is the most important, and at her young age i want her to enjoy the exposure of being in a competition and at the same time enjoy her dance journey, but of course not compromising on finding her a really good teacher. And i am confidently telling you i'm so glad i found 1. That's Pohlin from Sissonne Dance Art.

First of all i started my girl with pohlin with ballet jazz at the age of 3 plus... where she later loves jazz and progress with tremendous result within 3 months under her coaching. In the midst of her dance journey there were some hiccups and she was forced to change a new instructor which was disaster and the worst nightmare ever.. dance techniques went haywire in a matter of weeks with a really amature teacher who was supposed to be good as recommended by the previous school and they were about to go for exams in a few weeks time.. I couldn't just stand there and do nothing..It was pohlin who got my girl back on track within a week or 2 of intensive training.. and i witnessed that. She is a very experience jazz teacher in the industry... if you ask around the industry she is pretty well known for her teaching skill.

Besides jazz, Sissonne also teaches Tap and ballet. Tap teacher Jake is also another one of the best in town, able to engage kids and very precise in coaching the students individually even in a group class to make sure they get it right.

Sissonne is in business now at Grandstand 4th level. They offer free trial classes for jazz, tap and ballet.. my girl went trial for tap and ballet last weekend and she loves it. As a parent i feel confident that my girl is under a very good coach as the studio is quite open for parents to see how they are being trained.

You should give your girls a trial and judge for yourself. I think someone just posted a contact number where you can reach the school as well as her FB page. Website should be ready soon...

Hi Wennlim, so who's covering the ballet syllabus? I gather Pohlin is jazz teacher?

      Thks.

Actually thru DSA also on the child's own merits, need train hard n win medals, sit for GAT, acadamic exellence, leadershipqualities, written test, interview, sport trail...have to go thru more rounds than any others. All these on top of their normal studies commitments and preparation for PSLE. No one should say DSAs come thru back door. It's å…‰ę˜Žę£å¤§ n the kids n parents should b proud of their achievements.

Well Said! I totally agree! It's no easy feat with all the hard training and juggling of school work as well. DSA is also an invaluable experience, subjecting them to interviews, questions that needs them to think on their feet. Some questions I feel is quite too much for 12yos to handle emotionally.
Anyways glad the DSA journey is almost over. Another valuable experience gained for our DSA DCs.
Congrats to all parents and DCs who got the COs / WLs. :congrats:

For those who didnt, don't despair and focus on your PSLE, another 5-6wks and misery will be over! šŸ™‚ :rahrah:
