The private buses were the old school buses that operate to fetch students for many years. Until 3 or 4 years ago, the school called for open bid and the contract was awarded to the current official bus company.

However, the old school bus drivers after operating for so many years in KH, have already gained their reputation and supports from a lot of parents. Therefore they continue to operate there and that is why there are two groups of buses.

For my case, I started long ago for my DS with the private bus. I continue to use them because they are flexible if you need some special arrangements, and the service is very personal as you deal with the driver directly. While for the official bus, the drivers are employed by the bus company and you have to deal with the company instead of the driver.

And unlike the private bus driver who is always the same person I have been dealing with for the past 6 years, the official bus driver may not be the same guy all the time.

It is important for me that I trust the bus driver and I know him.
Hi,

I stay in Boon Keng and am looking for private bus driver. (Not from RS tpt) Anyone has any recommendation?

      Thanks

        hi leesf,

you should b able to find the private bus drivers at the carpark next to school during noon time. Just ask any of them and they will direct you to the driver serving your area.

          Hi leesf,

ycpang is right, there are about 6 of them around 12.15pm and 6pm outside Gate 1 the public carpark.

              Hi,

Saw the letter in ST forum where one parent complained abt the holding school site. Sigh, I’ve got a dd in P1 and another dd in P6. The school hall is run down and hot! Wonder if it’ll affect my dd’s PSLE since the exams will be held there. anybody with kids in P6 ?

                    Hi,

Saw the letter in ST forum where one parent complained abt the holding school site. Sigh, I've got a dd in P1 and another dd in P6. The school hall is run down and hot! Wonder if it'll affect my dd's PSLE since the exams will be held there. anybody with kids in P6 ?
It's strange. If I'm not mistaken, tables & chairs are not sourced for by MOE, but by the school. It's up to the school to utilise their budget for such things, right?

My elder was in a holding school in p1 & p2. School old but done up satisfactorily. The chairs & tables actually looked new. And I think these were all shifted to the new school building when ready, dustbins and all(bc there was a marking on a dustbin that I recognised).

My girl is currently in a holding school too. Old place, but the furniture, again, I think, is all from the old school. They dismantle everything, including soap dispensers in the toilet to bring over and install. (all these went missing from the old school building just before they moved).

So whether there is new/old furniture, and how the holding school is spruced up, really depends on the school managing their funds.

The other thing which i realised was that there was no covered walkway to the school bus esp for kids taking the pte school bus and in case it rains, they will be drenched... 2 yrs is a long time too leh 😞

Noticed that too. Wanted to let her bring an umbrella but afraid that the school bag will be too heavy. 😞
