      hi everyone,

may i ask if there is a cut-off level for transfer to other primary school, as in if student is now in P4 she cannot apply for transfer anymore?
I’m keen to try to transfer my P3 girl out to another primary school… but if unsuccessful this time can we try again in P4 i wonder…
      thank you for any advice!

Yes you can try any time you want. Heard of one who transferred at P5. Best time is P2 - P4.

          thank you Cherrygal for feedback.

another query - i can’t decide if i should apply for transfer right after SA1 results release, or after SA2 results release? right now there is no vacancy but i can submit form for waiting list, and they will only select students in nov… I’m thinking, if my DD SA1 results are good, should i apply and submit form now? if results not good enough, then i may wait till SA2 results which will give her another chance to get better grades?
          any comments please?

          thank you much in advance!

If you want to transfer, I would think you should submit your application now and get on the waiting list. When a vacancy arises, the school will probably ask you to supply the latest results anyway.

Yes, just send in SA1 first, then end of year, the school will ask you to send in SA2 if there are vacancies.

If you are just transferring to a not so popular school, then average results are OK. If you are eyeing a top school with many on the waiting list, then all subjects should have Band 1 results, preferably with strong performance in a CCA or niche areas.

Can we use first round GEP letter to ask for transfer to GEP school? What would be a good reason if child do not have special talents?

You can ask for transfer to GEP school but your kid cannot enter the GEP stream. At most just the high ability mainstream class. Good results will do for some schools if your kid has no niche talents. Of course, no harm in submitting the GEP first round letter for added oomph.

Beside using the first round GEP letter,u must also use yours kid school results to transfer into the GEP school. And they will asign your kid to the main stream class for the first year.If he/she did well on the SA exam with flying colors for that year, then they will consider putting the kid to the higher ability class.

                        Hi everyone,

My new house will only be ready mid of 2015. My girl will be p2 then. Can i hv her transfer in mid yr, or transferring is always done at a brand new yr?

                        Thanks!
