Just to share my experiences with my kids when they were in P6. They did consistent revision so didn't have any 'cheong' period. For June holiday, I got them sit down before the start of holiday to plan a revision timetable. The daily timetable includes homework, self revision, piano and rest/play time. No complete 'play day' except for a few outing days when daddy took leave to play with them. In terms of subjects per day, I vaguely remembered it was 2-3 subjects each day.My colig told me best time to \"cheong\" revision is June, and come Aug/Sep, it's too late. Hmm... making me panick bcos I m FTWM and can't take long stretches of leaves to revise with him. Any suggestions from any parents how to maximise the June hols? Different people/kids have different learning style. Hope you find a way suitable for your child.

Typically, the school will administer the so call Gat test... Seem like if the kids can do well in this they should be good something like GEP ... So still it's a fair comparison :oops:

Yes this was on my consideration as well. Different schools set different paper standard hence how can it be fair???
The school dd is targetting for explicitly stated above 70% in their forms. The principal also shared the thinking behind the 70% during the open house that given that different schools have different standards in exams papers, they have decided to peg it at 70% for DSA. They emphasized again and again that applicants must meet at least 70% overall passes.
Alot of schools also do not mentioned the grades they are looking at. But I suppose 70% is a good benchmark for band 2 schools? -
PSLE is really stressful. I never realised it until CA1 when DD performed badly. For the past few years, we just did a lot of last minute revision and somehow managed to get through. DD managed to maintain in top class but probably the last 25%. To look back, if given a chance, I believe we would have done differently and I agree PSLE should start in P5.
Just before SA1 and now, DD suddenly started to work diligently and became very motivated. She has identified a target. She wants to go to NYGS. I told her no chance so just aim for more practical choices but she said she wanted to try. Ok, no harm to have high target but I am afraid of the disappointment if eventually she cannot succeed. It is an almost impossible target. I think min. 3 or 4 A stars.
I went for the parents meeting session 3 days ago first time since P3, no choice as need to understand DD’s weakness.
I am doubtful if we can still make it in time if we cheong now that DD just starts to 开窍. We still have many weak areas to catch up in order to reach the targeted results. The tough journey is going to last for a while. As a mother, I am not even sure if I have the stamina to last that long. Not to mention DD. I am afraid she "peaked" too early and by the time of PSLE, she would be drained and lost all the motivation. Stressful times ahead…All the best for the parents out there, keep fighting. -

At least for NYGH, the principal mentioned during open house that they will take into consideration of different \"standard\" and exam difficulties at different primary schools for DSA applicants. -
