MOM gets levy for nothing done...yet do not help employers when they have problems with maids...maid agencies get to enjoy another sum when maids are returned and have change of employer.

These maids don't have to pay anything...got food and accommodation. When sick, see doc also no need to pay. Got attitude problem, just show black face. If employer scolds, vent on kids or elderly. Should he/she hit, call MOM.

      Shiok right?
:salute: super agree! When MOM will give fair treatment to us? Then US got unfair treatment will MOM help? I shld change pass..port?

Maybe if you get abused and it gets recorded…somebody might just step in.

I think we should also follow what HK is practicing. If maid no good, send back and not transfer to another employer. In this way, maid is aware what she can or cannot do and bear some consequence if she gets deported back.

I have known some experienced maids who are not willing to go HK because of such even they know the salary there is higher. To them, some part of risk involved.

Here, some maids simply take us as a stepping stone to come for a short period, under perform so that we can send back to agent then get to "pick" their preferred employer.

              Hey lousy-mum/June mum,

I agree 200% to what you posted. :rahrah:
Why should we be subjected to these maids' poor attitudes when we have pay for their food & accommodation ? If we have poor work attitude in the office, we will be sacked. These maids should be taught to show respect to their employers.

Definitely, something should be done with the fresh maids coming in...Singaporean employers often have to train them from scratch...and then these maids think they are damn good and want to work in HKG and Taiwan after that. If maids cannot perform, then they should be sent home...and not have the mentality that they can choose employers.

Precisely !! If they want to choose employer, get deported and pay again to come back...not at the expense of the employer !!

The govt only knows how to please them, increase their pay, want to make on par with these 2 countries to attract them to come so that we will not have shortage of maids. But they do not know the problems employers are facing. The MPs, whoever implement new rules to give more privilege to them than to us or Singaporeans can afford to pay them, can afford to keep changing, can afford to pay agent fees, some even have 2 maids.

                  angry sia...

I think the most effective way is to tie the maids to the contracted employer like Hong Kong…we are already accountable for so many things.

Don’t allow them to play games to change employer…make it compulsory to leave the country before they can change employer. Better yet, let there be a cooling period like 30 days before they can re enter to Singapore. This is probably the most effective way to deter them from all this nonsense.

We are all here frustrated and talking till our face turn blue and being accused of being slave drivers etc.

Sorry to say this...but these damn maids make Singaporean employers complete fools...choosing employers to work for, better still easy job and employer leaving the house to them...and we have to bear cost of everything....food, accommodation and medical fees. Insurance is not transferrable when we have replacement...then the 2 weeks before they find new employer is again borne by us...$20 a day? For not doing anything ok. Send these maids back...why should any employer have to be victim when these maids are clearly choosing easy jobs

If the job is easy, why do we have to get maids?

You are right…at the end of the day, we don’t change maids for fun, it’s a huge huge inconvenience and cost to us. I just want to maid to follow my instructions to do her job.

I get so pissed when people tell me…"if they so smart they won’t come here to be a maid… ". My household is not complicated, just cleaning, wash and iron and some 20% cooking. It’s not rocket science. Can’t tell what is clean or still dirty? I show them what is clean and dirty, some of them choose to cut corners.

Then some say"their standard is like this, don’t expect much". If they are back home yes, now they are here being paid for a cleaning job, and I have to put up with dirty dishes and dirty house and they argue that they have cleaned?

I think some one should make a movie and see how ridiculous this is. If we are not to expect so much of them, then why are they expecting so much of us?
