any feedback on the teachers'? My dd told me her Math teacher started to give them some work to do... Those who know what to do, can proceed. those who don't, will go to her. In smaller group, she will guide them.

Any of your dd signing up for enrichment? Got a general letter from the alumni.
We din't sign up for any enrichment so far, not even phonics & HYPY during the hols. Hv always prefer him to learn non-academic stuff that interests him instead.
Mayb esponse not good 4 some of its courses, so need to send reminder?
      heheehhee...:b

Hi, there are some letters and notes from the teachers that my DD brought home that mentioned for item B).

As for item A) and C), is what the teacher told my DD and she came home ''report'' to me. 🙂

        A) if they have PE lesson, they ARE TO WEAR PE attire the entire day. No need bring shirt to school to change

        B) As for Class P1A, the form teacher had issued us a list of books to be kept by her (which means that my DD no need to bring the following books to school. As and when needed to use, the teacher will distribute the relevant books to them). The books kept by the teachers are:
        a. STELLAR handwritting 1
        b. The ultimate guide to mastering comprehension Pri 1
        c. My journal (english) Pri 1
        d. My grammar handbook (teacher's production)
        e. Discover Math workbook 1A and 1B
        f. Discover Math topical practice 1
        g. Plastic file (for maths) Red-2
        h. Plastic english yellow file with dividers

        C) My DD told me that there will be buddy attached to them for 5days during recess. One P2 buddy attached to one P1 student. My DD also mentioned that if the P1 student is a girl, the buddy will be a girl too so that if the P1 student need to use the toilet, the buddy can go with her.
        Hi,

What about the wed which has MASPEMU? Do you know if they also wearing the PE attire the whole day too?

As I thot that there will be Mass PE so I asked my DD to wear PE attire but scare that I might wrong of wearing PE attire so I asked my DD to wear her school skirt with the t-shirt on.

And heard from my DD yesterday that, her form teacher is very angry with all the students in the class. Bcos all of them wearing different uniforms to school. And one by one told them off.

I did a call to school on Tuesday to make enquires and the lady who pickup the phone so rude and not that helpful too.

          Hi,

Think it's stated on the letter (think it's the yellow colour letter) that PE attire is only allowed on PE days. Therefore the kids can wear PE attire whole day in school.
For my son, out of the 5 school days, he will be wearing PE attire for 3 schools days - Mass PE on Wednesdays and PE lessons on Thursday and Friday.

Actually, to my opinion, I feels that the teachers should let parents know which actual books to bring as example Just written as English, Chinese, Maths as stated in the timetable, too wide range.

English for example have Grammar, comprehension, my journal , stellar. Chinese have the 2 A's books , 2 B's book , chinese classic book. Maths have 2 A's and 2 B's books as well and the topical maths . Aslo, needs to bring any exercise books too? :?

Not including the CME , the Health Ad, Music book, Art book.
How about those files as well. So heavy then.

            Very confused.
Agree with you. Everything is quite vague thus far at least for my boy's class:
            - Chinese told us to prepare 2 exercise books when he came back on Tues and yesterday night I checked his bags, the 2 books are still there.
            - And unless some of the classes, teachers also don't give a list of what books they have kept in school

Thus far, I personally feel that the school/teacher-parents communication is rather weak. For instance, on the first day we were told what time to take the kids to school but was never formally informed what time is dismissal (got to ask around), then the acroynms used was not spelt out like the mass PE and music (again found out only through the forum), then the books to bring, how they will be coping for recess today now that the 3 days of catered food is over (again understand from checking around informally that P2 will buddy them) etc etc...

I wonder if there should be a better way to do things moving forward? Like a FAQ for first time P1 parents?

No lah...don;t think is correct wor. Coz my boy is not very tall but he is in class J.

                What is his height?

1.11m. We went through Phase 2C balloting to get him to this school. Maybe classes are allocated by this mean? First come first serve?

Yes, agree with you. Perhaps it will be good for us to suggest to the school to prepare a FAQ for next year P1 intake.

                    Hi all,

Yesterday DS came back with a list of books that will be kept by the teachers. In fact, some of the books which DS brought yesterday have been collected. Personally, I feel glad that the teachers will be keeping some of books as this will implied that DS’ schoolbag will not be so heavy.

                    Thanks!

Yes, most of the books have been collected from form teacher on Tuesday. Now only left chinese & Maths textbooks and those CME etc...
I'm sure it will lighten our kids' schoolbag a lot...

                        Hi all

By the way, just wanna find out how much pocket money that you dear mommies and daddies give to your kid today? I went to survey the tuckshop on the 1st day of school. Most of the food priced below $2. I was thinking to give $2 per day  Is it too much? Haha!!
