I realised that car rental is very cheap - so we are renting a car to go out of Sydney and staying in Blue Mountain for a couple of days. Don’t have answer to your question yet (re day trips) but some admission tickets e.g. zoo are cheaper buying online.

Yup, car rental is pretty reasonable, all through Australia. Be careful re their speed limits though - we learnt that being over the limits by 15km is enough to land us a 120AUD fine!

u will receive email as confirmation. print that out in case they ask for it in airport.

Confirmation e-mail does not show the full details of the visa holder. If you want the full details, need to print out from their website again using your confirmation number.


Also, if you do not receive instantaneous approval for your application, you will need to log into their website to check the status. There will not be any e-mail notification to update you of their approval.
