      ks2me:
      I think you mean Shicida.

Methods do not maketh a genius.

Geniuses are brought to surface with the methods

So that explains why no reported case of reading at 9 months?
Oh oops yah. Shicida. I think I read the math thread and got confused with Sakamoto Math.

What you say could be true, ks2me. The geniuses could just be uncovered, which is why the percentage of geniuses in the population remains roughly the same even with these new methods.

I'm all for early stimulation/reading though. Not sure about flashcards, but reading is the best. Cos later on when the kids can read on their own, they leave you alone to do your own thing!!

        2ppaamm:

O, the IAHP folks. Visited them in 1994 in Philadelphia. Saw that Glenn Doman guy. :stupid:

For my first boy, I followed the put him on the front when he sleeps. Well, he learnt to crawl at 3 months old. But then, I read some more stories about babies dying in their sleep, and mostly because of this posture, so I didn't do the same for the rest of the kids.

I still have lots of those flash cards. I bought tons there. The maths ones, the english ones etc etc. But never used them on any other kids except the first. No time lah.

I don't even know it works. Maybe it does... aiyah, too late now, like I always tell my kids, I'm a lousy mother... got things also don't use...
bc, 2ppaamm, dun have time when all the kids are more or less close together in age gap, right? My youngest has 10 year age gap, so have a little more \"time\", in a way. Older and more experienced in a way too.

Yalor, 5 kids in 9 years. In that 9 years, I was busy doing making things happen for 5 kids while you can focus on one. Lucky child of yours. Wished I can spend more time on each, especially the last. In my case, 1st child benefits the most, in your case, your last child I guess. Mummy more experienced, also more time.

Not really more time, but when you consider that they are aged 1, 11, 13, 16, it's sure not quite the same as when your eldest is 9yrs old when you had your youngest, right?

Aiyoh... quite bad also hor? Nevermind lah, did you get that baby bonus for the last kid? I got nothing, 4th kid missed by 3 months, last kid is 5th, no baby bonus for 5th... Aye, your 1st 3 kids almost exactly the same age as my 1st 3. But I had 2 more in between.

This is my theory cos that, what's his name, Sakamoto or some Japanese flip method? That one. Start at birth right? But how come no one else can read at 9 mths?

                      I think you mean Shicida.

Two schools of thoughts lah. Some say that people are getting smarter, some think we are getting stupider. I think the latter is true...

Well, those IQ tests have to be modified periodically, and \"genius\" is really about top 2% of the population. Once too many score that 'genius' level, the test will not be effective, a harder test has to be devised.

That's why you see IQ tests have different editions, WISC is into 4th or 5th and SB is in 4th or 5th edition. These are the common IQ tests you'll have to take if your child want to skip grades in the MOE system. They have to score about FSIQ of about 160+ to skip a grade or two. You can skip up to 4 grades in Singapore...

Did you know that? There is not just a GEP branch in Singapore, there's the exceptionally gifted branch also... Share this in case any of you have super intelligent kids. Sounds like your kid, Phankao?

Skipping grades only applies to lower primary kids, rarely the upper primary. Once they reach the GEP, it's hard to skip grades...

GEP = top 1%. Exceptionally gifted= one in 100,000. I think there were 2 ladies in MOE in charge of this there 1.5 years ago...
