www, since you assess that it is quite mild and it could be a situation that the cc teachers cannot handle him well, maybe one of the options is to try another mainstream cc that would be more willing to work with him. At the same time, where there are learning disabilities, it would really benefit if you could place your child in some therapy early. Like what nugget says, you can go for private therapy, since public institutions need a diagnosis before you can go for therapy.
If I may, a child could behave differently at home vs at school. As parents we know our children inside out, and because of that we may not be as sensitive to pick up issues as the teachers. That doesn't mean that you have to listen to the teachers when they say your child has issues. But it is a signal to take note of and see what else should be done.
My two cents worth.
We have no problem with my child sharing with us adults at home. But from the school is another different story.
Childcare teacher complaining that my child likes to mess up other friends toys. So far my child can only click well with 2 friends in childcare without upsetting the teacher much. My child usually mentioning the names of the buddy friends, so we know.
Went KKH, first time doctor diagnosed child with feet problem, after that we ignore this problem though are advised to make insoles, next time we went to see the same doctor for updates appointment, she said feet went back ok by own, then start to send my child to different tests (basing on childcare teacher observation)- psychology, motor skills tests.
Next after testing, just said mild autism ask to go early intervention. Even after we went to early intervention first interview, the teacher there said look normal for my child, and told us for social is in a small group? Early intervention teachers have told us too that could be the way of handling by cc teachers, so my child might seem mild autism, even though is not.
Now we are thinking should we continue to enroll my child in? How accurate are the tests? We still having doubt till todate. Early intervention classes are expensive, and I am also worry my child will be dead tired running from normal childcare to early intervention classes. Cannot take naps. :sad:
We are also worry about how my child click with the new students, and will my child pick up the wrong things through learning? I am a worry parent, so I ask this and that from the early intervention school. School teachers are thinking we do not want to enroll my child. :oops: -

In cases like this, sometimes I ask myself what is my gut feel. When all else fails, maybe this could be one thing to fall back on. If your child is still young, another thing that is worth considering could be to keep him in one place (whether mainstream or special school) and then monitor and see how he progresses. Rule of thumb could be to reassess 6 months later. Just some thoughts for consideration.
My doter attends two pre schools too - EIPIC in the morning and mainstream cc in the afternoon. So far she is ok with it - its more the mother that is feeling the toil of having to fetch her to and fro!

there are a lot of private centers that offer speech and language therapy and occupational therapy which are the mainstay for ASD. Some centers offer social skills, art therapy, music therapy which are customized for children in this group. There is a lot of discussion at this thread - you can check it out. -
Www, if social skills is what u are worried about now, you can send him to Weecare. They hv social skills classes for small group. Per term is about $600plus. U can attend one term first and see if it is beneficial for him. Weecare is a private therapy centre.

Too expensive for us. Now the fee around $500, husband told me that if normal add with special childcare total about $1000++, might as well send to one international school that provide all these?
True too.
I am not worry about social skill for my child, but is the childcare teacher finding that a problem? My child talks to strangers... Hi to people... loves to disturb us and ask us to play together. -
Another suggestion is that u seek the current CC’s approval to sit in your son’s class for a day and see how he interacts with other children and if his behavior matches the teachers’ description. But of course, you will need to his so that he can’t see u.
Sometimes is just a matter of changing sch. I feel that u dun hv to worry that he can’t adapt to new sch because in life, he has to learn how to adapt to changes too. -

www, would it help if you were to put aside all the clutter and ask yourself what is the first and key issue that you need to address here and now? Maybe that could be a way to help you think through.
