All About Parent Volunteers (PV)

tankee:
The sch is just opp the road... less than 500m... not by choice yet I have to go by PV route, cos' it's popular... typically the sch would choose ppl from \"elite\" class if given the choice...Daddy

...(We r less than 1KM from this popular pri sch... n my wife is a teacher... how ironic... totally pissed by the edu system)
:? i do not understand. what does staying within 1 km and that your wife is a teacher got to do with the PV application? and what does PV application got to do with the education system? :?
That's my grouse on the edu sys... -
3Boys:
Ironic that my wife being a teacher... already given all her time to teach in her sch... yet needs to try to \"volunteer\" her free time (if any) to another sch...Not really sure what you expect the school to do? If the school is very popular and have a lot of parents applying to be volunteer, should the admin allow them all in and then let them take chance and ballot at Phase 2B? At that point if you, having spent 40-80 hours volunteering, failed at the ballot, would you be even more p***** off?
What's this got to do with the education system? No win for the school, reject volunteers, get labelled as stuck up, if take them all in, then screaming and shouting during registration when got too many in Phase 2B..... -
titank:
Think I want to avoid GE \"free labour\"... haha!
U still can join the RC route where by 30 June 2010. Depend on how hard working you are, once you get Executive Membership then would qualify Phase 2B in the GRC.
In summary, depend on what is comfortable for you. Good luck!

Hi everyone, I got an email from MGS. They do not take in PV except for those whose kids are already enrolled in the school. Thought I had better put this down so I do not create any further misunderstandings.

kidznme:

\"Episode Two: βLet The Right One Inβ
Yeah! Saw the trailer. It says the couple stayed within 1 km from the school, completed PV work, but yet the principal didn't admit their child. Hence, they were suing the principal.
This topic is something close to our hearts. -
unless it is ballot, else quite strange that within 1km and done PV yet unable to get in.
If ballot and failed, then can only blame ownβs bad luck. -
tks, jenybc. hope to hear from the sch soon. keeping fingers crossed
