India no longer call-centre capital of the world

You don’t say. Almost all the unsolicited spam calls I get these days have voices reminiscent of Michelle Chong’s Leticia Bongnino. Serves me right for sending in those lucky draw entries.

Don’t worry, next year onward that will be a new act to curb these nuisance…

I used to answer unsolicited calls politely. These days I just hang up without saying a word.

It's usually quite easy to identify those calls. If numbers start with a strange number or have caller ID blocked, you can be quite sure it's a spam. I will pick it up, say hello and if the response comes back 3 seconds later, I confirm it is spam and simply hang up.
Why on earth does setting up a spam registry take 2-3 years?? Grrrr.
Also, it is unclear what recourse we have if the spam continues even if we register our numbers as no spamming. Do we tell the caller \"Or-hor... you still dare to call me?\" How do we report them? -

I guess.. maybe answer the call, take down the company name, the product, and name of person on the line and as much info as possible.. then make a complain to the relevant authorities..

Some of them are really good but i have encountered Philippines customer support that are very rude or rather do not understand what the customer wants.

Agree that the Filipino accent is at least easier to understand than Indian. I face this problem at my workplace…

like what they said: the accent so thick you can use a knife to cut it through
:stupid: :stupid: usually I will ask them to repeat because cannot understand at all.
