Hi!!! I am newbie to this forum and would like to join as an official KS mom. My son is born in 2008 and we are Singapore PR from Tampines. I have applied as PV in Gongshang but was not successful.
I stay within 1km of White Sands Primary School in Pasir Ris and have been accepted as PV. I am also KS like many since I am not a citizen and I know my queue number is after citizens have secured their place first. Hence, I PV even I stay within 1km hoping for higher chance to get in under Ph2B.
My question might be sensitive to some but I would still like to check how’s the environment for those who is familiar with WS as well the ratio of Chinese students vs. Malays. Is it true there are a lot of Malays in WS than Chinese students?
Thanks in advance. -
Hi, jennyfrmdblock. May I know why did you choose Gongshang Pri for your child? Is it a good school? The school compound is rather small and the CCA options are still the same as last time. I don't understand why it's popular in Tampines.
Ironically, I was an ex-student of this primary school. But I've shifted tooooooooo far away that it seems unreasonable to send my children there unless I shift to Tampines. However, if we shift, then we will be way toooooo far from my in laws, parents and my hubby's work place.
The P1 registration system brings much stress to parents. :stupid: -

Hi,
If I am qualified under phase 2b but in the event there was balloting and my ds does not get a place at the school, can I apply again at the same school for phase 2c or should i try other schools? -
ksjac:
yes you can apply again at the same school but bear in mind that it will be subject to home distance should balloting comes in.Hi,

If i apply for a school way off my home address >2km. But the school is not popular, i shouldnt have any problem getting a placement right?

yes, but remember if balloting comes in ...you are in the very very risky group.
you will never know if the parents(within 1km, 1km-2km) will do the last minute withdraw/ applying stunt, if they realize they stand no chance with their 1st option. -

It depends on the estate. If it is a populated and developed estate with very few Pri Schools, there may be ballot.
I have heard of unpopular neighbourhood schools conducting balloting in Phase 2C.
