        Hi,

sorry, what does the announcement result date mean? does it mean we will only know that we are confirmed a place in the school on the "announcement date" or will we get to see the ballot on the last day, straight after the last registration? when and how was the balloting held?

Announcement result date - this is usually the date that schools conduct balloting.

Let's say the school conducts balloting for those in the 1-2 km category and you live within 1 km from the school. It is, thus, more or less confirmed that you have confirmed a place in the school. Don't have to wait till the announcement results date.

so do you mean the school will announce which category will ballot straight after the registration closes on 1 Aug?

School will call the parents should there be balloting…

I remembered the admin called me up just slightly after the closing of phrase 2C

It’s a very stressful period from the day we know the number of applicants exceeded the vacancies till the balloting was over !

It’s the worst moment we as parent have to go thru. One time is enough !!

Yes best to check the chance of getting in on last day like 1 hour before end of registration. It maybe wise to apply a more secure place of school such as CPS, APS or BRPS. Based on past history, BRPS still have many places left after in Phase 3.

Of course if you want to take the gamble then go for the balloting. Personally I did not go thru any balloting experience so cannot comment how the feeling like.

Schools may not openly announce which category balloting will be for. Official announcements will be made on MOE website, a few days after the close of registration.

The onus is on parents to check with the school the distance category that is safe or requires balloting. Some schools will call parents to tell them to withdraw their applications (no chance for balloting for these parents). Some schools will not. Some schools will call parents early. Some schools will call parents so late that parents eventually will not be in time to make the withdrawal and re-registration. Hence, in order not to waste your P2C chance, please check with the school. Don't wait for the school to call you.

Its the same for new school. They will take in all SG children first. If the no. of applications exceed the no. of places, they will ballot according to distance. So you must have a backup school to fall back.

Backup school in Phase 2C Supplementary in which you are staying at 1km.If staying more than 2km then best try get in the school with better chance at Phase 2C.

Depending on which phase requires balloting. The announcement and balloting will be conducted after the registration for that phase closed and before the start of next phase.
