Standard chart is quite aggressive. My impression is that if you have savings, loan ,etc... with them for a certain amount, they will classify you as priority customer.

I much prefer OCBC since their atms always have no queue, unlike DBS… not sure why so many are still on DBS/POSB…

I still hold to my posb accounts becos too many giros tied to it. but most of the money is parked elsewhere. Again, used to keep more money in xtrasaver becos of the higher rebates that I could get from xtrasaver. After they tighten the requirements, also withdrew money from there and park elsewhere.

One good account I have is Citibank. Some step up account. It has atm card that gives free overseas cash withdrawal. So if I am overseas and need money, nonid to pay transaction fee. The rates are not too bad, somewhere between using credit card and forex exchange at local places (NOT airport). Plus they have good coverage in many locations.

One good thing about OCBC banking is it is open till 7pm on weekdays and they are open on sundays.

Sama sama. My salary and some giro is link to POSB so I just let it be. It's troublesome to change in case I miss out something.

But I park my funds in Citi. I enjoy banking with Citi so far. I seldom use their credit cards now as nothing enticing for me but they will always waive off the charges for me.

Our housing loans are with them. I've done several rounds of refinancing and they always waive off the few hundred dollars admin charge for each loan. I think the fee is around $500. We used to have 1 loan with UOB. To refinance, they request us to pay admin fee so in the end, we switch to Citi as well. So Citi is really good in this case that's why we stick with them. At one stage, I wanted to refinance with Standard chart due to better offerings and the bank tried to give us competitive rates to retain us.

ATM coverage is not bad as they also have ATM at petrol kiosks these days. We recently got \"upgraded\" by them. Yet to discover the benefits. dh was reluctant to be upgraded. I told him such service is good for CNY. No need to queue so long to change new notes. That is the only value I can attach to it so far.

one should have an account solely for online transaction and set a limit for it.

I have an account where money goes in but doesn’t come out easily (eg atm card dunno pin number etc). Forces me to save and unable to touch it. quite handy to have.
