Also, I've done some research on homeschooling some 8 years back. These students perform much better in the university and more independent learners compared to traditional schooled children.

Homeschooled children can be our leaders also. Why would the government want to treat them differently? :?

homeschoolers already have this advantage, so does it matter which sec sch they go to? so leave the much-sought-after-school-vacancies to mainstream students (children of commoners like us), k? πŸ˜‰

Don't know why the parents want to put him back to mainstream, but why are they deprived? They are taxpayers also ma...

Perhaps there's a way around it.

        1. Register in a school anyway at P1.
        2. Then ask for leave of absence (find some valid reasons)
        3. Go missing for that 6 years.
        4. Register for PSLE through the school you registered in...

Works or not ha? Never tried that, but sounds like can have the best of both worlds.

        Anything I missed?
Can't foresee any school agreeing to it.
School has to account for attendance.
And it still has to get MOE's clearance.
Besides u will be depriving another kid of a place.

IMHO, me think homeschooled kids will miss out on the social interaction aspect for them to be better leaders.

U read the Cawley case in the ST yesterday?
I thought MOE n the Unis would be more accomodating or was Cawley demanding too much?

what if what if, we have a top PSLE student from homeschooling scheme??? :faint: for MOE, it will open up a pandora box.

This, I am 100% sure, will never, never, ever happen. MOE will see to that. Who controls the marks? πŸ‘…

I suppose our leaders face the challenge of balancing compassion for minority with mass needs.
special needs and religious needs (Grp 1) aside, i believe a portion of homeschoolers opt for homeschooling to get away from what they believe to be SG's rigid/narrow education system (which ever they term it) or get ahead of the system (Grp 2). so should they have the cake and eat it all at the expense of mainstream students? imagine your kid is vying for the last vacancy in a popular sec school with a homeschooling kid; surely the ministry have to compare apple-to-apple when admitting students based on academic results and homeschoolers (Grp 2) and mainstream students are definitely not on the same par.

Hey, we were discussing about this boy yesterday leh, on this track... http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?p=103438#103438 did you see it?

A lot of people say that homeschooled kids lack social interaction. What social interaction do they miss? Mixing with kids all of the same age? But the society is not like that ma... it is made up of people of ALL ages. Wouldn't it be the school is a school environment, then when we leave, we learn new ways to cope with the society. New rules, new ways of interacting...

BINGO!!! but even if so, it is only a 1 out of so many pupils, will likely akin to having Top scorer in a neighbourhood school....

applying for Govt jobs already have requirements of LOCAL polytechnic diplomas, so what say you? πŸ˜‰

But all the leaders graduate from foreign universities. We still send our top president scholars overseas.. Ironical. If we are so confident of our education, why send them away. Afterall, we have 3 (going to be 4) \"GREAT\" universities, don't we?
Actually, tomorrow I must talk to my friend, maybe just \"tong\" another 4 years, then try and go for university... Take up the place of a talented child there rather than in the schools... πŸ‘…
