Totally agree. So even if our kids are in the local school environment, it is important to get them into sports and other stuff. Social environment, I feel, is more important than academic...

Aiyah, nobody needs one to multiply 345 x 349823 everyday mentally ma, but all of us will benefit from those kind words and good deeds every once in a while. I think Singapore's education is sorely lacking in that... the REAL social part. Not the \"meet teacher and principal KPI\" type.

Not ALL parents have the time, resources or abilities to do so.
Sadly, some fell thro' the system and a vicious cycle is repeated.
Fortunately, the gahmen imposed the mandatory 6 yrs pri. ed.
But I wondered why it took them so long to do so :?

One ought to take a broader view of the issue. There IS a reason non-mainstream schoolung is discouraged. I think its unspoken, but just look across the border to see what happened yesterday with the bombings for part of the answer.

I have nothing against homeschooling but I think whether homeschool or not, all the above you mentioned are important for parents to do.

is not homeschooled and whether she learns her values in school or at home, she has the opportunity to practise it in school where people dynamics are typically more complex than in a home-school environment.
