With PSLE so near and so REAL, what would you do if you hear that your child's Subject teacher is not able to control the class ( Teacher is the meeky type ) and because of it, the class revision is delayed?

Hm, is what you heard reliable?

Yes! I have also met with this subject teacher during PTC, even DH finds her low energy and too soft spoken. I have been telling DS we can't choose the teacher so might as well embrace. That was what we have been doing the last 2 terms. However, I am getting a bit concerned because PSLE is really near. This subject teacher has also been absent many times this year. Once, the students witnessed tears around her eyes during cirriculum time. I am suspecting she cannot take the pressure.

Other subject teacher seem to be working well with the class, with no such incidences.
Oh dear.

When my ah boy was in P3, he had a very lousy Chinese teacher. She was seemingly very helpful n kind during our PTM in late March. Until I spoke to 2 other parents whose children were under her charge too to confirm what ah boy told me. One day, I met the HOD at Lot 1. The HOD used to teach my elder boy, so we sort of know each other. I told him about the antics of the Chinese teacher. I was shocked to know that he knew about the misbehavior of this teacher n had already gotten feedback from some other parents. 2 years later, she does not teach in the sch anymore. Same for the FT.

If u do not think your child will be blacklisted, u hv a choice to report your concern to the HOD, else u could only depend on tutors to catch up.
Did anyone use the A star maths assessment book? Is it good? I just know it is quite expensive.

Is it the A star Maths booklets (half A4 size)?
My DD's P6 teacher ordered for the whole class and asked them to do during the Jun holidays. They are additional to the worksheets provided by the school, so her teacher did not go through them during normal lesson but went through some during extra lesson. They are grouped by topics and methods which my DD found it useful.

Oh. it seem good. I wonder it is too late to get a copy now as it is only 10 weeks from PSLE. IS the questions challegning? Is it very close to PSLE questions? Between onsponge and A star, i wonder which is better?

ANyone have any feedback to me. Exam is close and time is limited. Did not want to make a wrong move. thanks
Not sure what I share will be helpful or not......but this is what I gather from my 2 kids.
DS took his PSLE last year, DD is doing hers this year. A* booklets are used by both their schools for the top classes. They did OnSponge and Challenging Maths as well.

I have asked both to feedback on the 3 books - Challenging Maths, OnSponge & A*. On a ranking of most difficult to easiest, the order is A*, OnSponge, Challenging Maths. (I can't feedback since I dun go through with them)

I do not know how strong in Maths is your child, but at this point in time, I think it's better to get something to stretch & challenge them and not something that will overwhelm or demoralize them.
For me, both my kids are kinda strong in Maths and like the subject, so it's easier for us as they welcome the 'challenge'. In the event that they are unable to solve/understand even after hubby teaches them, we will tell them to just try their best. Dun dwell or be affected by 'a tree or two', aim for the forest (90%). I guess different child will response differently, so perhaps you will need to make the call.

IT is not available in popular and i heard that it cost around $17. I did not get one for my DD, so i wondering it is good to have one.
Thank you, Goodluck8. Anyway, I don't think DS has time to do it. We still have a lot of top school papers to do 😓

I can vomit blood listening to DS's Chinese picture description and conversation. Each sentence will be followed by \"ummmmm.....\" that can last 10 seconds :faint:

Any tips to improve Chinese picture description and conversation? :?:

I am getting him to keep practising and memorise the 结尾that teacher gave.

i was furiously nodding my head and showed your post to dd and told her she also like that.

she said, NO, i only take maybe 5secs to think. :slapshead:

told her she needs to practise but she doesn't let me hear her. she say looking at me she can't think.

so for chinese oral, i leave to her and her tutor and :xedfingers:
