I think if MOM can only do one thing… it is to stop local transfer, stipulate that maid must return to home country before they can re enter with completed new employer transfer paper work.

They should pay for their own air ticket if they are the ones that want to leave the employer.

I may sound mean…but come on…we employers also need to work & face shit from our boss right?

But do we suka suka resign & change job every 1-2 mths?
            We don’t right?
Why? Coz we know it will look very bad on our resume & records!!
So we try our best to work to satisfy our boss’s expectations…
Unless really really no choice…even when we resign,we hand over our job to next person properly…
So why does maids have such ridiculous privileges to suka suka switch employers with no penalties? Or worse, say WANa go home & we have to pay their air fare when we at no fault?even human rights does not render such special treatments huh?
& if really considered human rights, then why Taiwan & HK they cannot transfer locally?
Oh!! Then Shouldn’t human rights authorities go sue Taiwan & HK govt huh??
Come on! S’pore govt!! Wake up la…
If not, wait to lose more seats!!
Even if opposition parties haf no good candidates,
People will till vote for them, just to drown your complacency!!
            Maid,property,education,cars woes,make me feel so helpless…
            I really think S’pore no hope Liao…
Any chance to escapee,I won’t hesitate man!!!

I agree that we need to remove the freedom from maids to move at will - the 2 year contract should be enforced but I don’t agree that we should ban local transfers completely.

There is a cost to the maid to come here to work. If she has completed a contract and wants to move on or her employer doesn’t need her anymore it doesn’t seem fair that she has to go home and start all over again.

Of course, I’m a bit biased here as I only employ transfer maids because I am totally against the idea of bringing someone into my house who I haven’t met. I wouldn’t employ someone to work in my office who I haven’t met so why should I have to do it at home.

If they r the ones who wants to transfer out, they have to pay for whatever costs themselves! Like stupid ridiculous accommodation & food which now costing us $20-30 per day?!

ESP when agencies simply squeeZe them in a room full of other maids+give them Maggie MEE aft extorting such $ from us…
Somemore I remember is up to 14/21 days??
Maids has nothing to lose when suka suka ask for transfer!!
If we are the ones who wants to transfer out,we should have the choice whether to send bk to agency or to send back home coz
We r the best to decide whether maid has serious problems…
If not fit to work,we r just passing the problem to another family!!
Anyway, usually we pay for all the stupid English tests etc,
I feel we have the right to decide where to send them to,
                BUT without refund problems!!
Coz many families have no choice but to return lousy maid to agencies,
& take another replacement maid who high chance also not good,
Mainly because of no refund problems!!

Be careful what you wish for.

If transfers are banned, you’ll end up paying all those fees + flight home, and not get a cent back.

Actually, if you truly believe that they should not be transferred, it is within your power to enforce that— send the !!##@#@#! maid home instead of asking the agent to transfer the headache to another home.

Precisely what I mean is govt is not doing anything AT ALL to protect employers!

If we are protected & given refunds ,u think we like to return unsatisfactory maids back to agencies, & start vicious cycle of passing these maids around & create more problems in other families???
Think need a few more deaths or serious child abuse cases then govt MAY do something to help us?

Actually makes me wonder how the Ang Mohs cope in their home country. Since they don’t have this kind of luxury for normal folks.

Actually we as employers decide whether the maid should transfer but its becos we stand to loose the upfront loan that makes transferring a bad maid possible
