Nanyang tends to take in excessive number of PV - Zoe Tay was an example. Wasn’t even eligible for balloting. St Margaret primary is not in bukit timah area.


I’m quite impressed with Rosyth admin staff for PV. At the first PV meeting, we were told they are only 20 sets of parents selected for PV. And they also listed out how many stay within one KM, 1-2 or outside 2km. For 2014 intake, 30 places are available for phase 2B. So the chances is not too bad. All depends on the number of grassroots people.

Hi,

While I was a PV at RGPS, \"tasks\" were snapped up within 5mins when the coordinators sent out emails to PVs. Most of us were worried there wasn't enough \"jobs\" to clock those hours. Excluding those public and school holidays, you may not be able to clock the minimum hours if you are \"choosy\" or too busy with other commitment.

I heard that for RGPS if you get to be a PV, you're more or less secured of a place (even if you live more than 2km away). Also, the past stats also seem to support this. Is this right?
Also, which areas should you volunteer in for this school? As in, what should you put in your proposal to ensure being shortlisted? TIA

Can I ask, why are the tasks so limited since they had asked for volunteer proposals and they even interviewed the PVs before selection. Aren't the PVs selected based on their various proposals and wouldn't the PVs be doing what they had proposed earlier? Why is there still a fight for common duties to do? :?

Rosyth no longer takes in PV right?

I am a Singaporean but my husband is an European. We are both not familiar with this PV approach.


We currently stay within 1 km from SJI. What are the other options for PV? My husband is a lawyer while I work in a bank. Beside directing traffic and gardening, is there other types of PV that we can do? My husband can speaks 5 different languages, so does that help? English is his 3rd language.

Every school is different when it comes to PV selection. Best way to find out is to call the school.

but... you're fortunate! SJIJ did not require balloting for those within 1km last yr! so keep yr fingers and toes crossed that it would not when your turn comes.

Can’t remember the details but I remember there are 7 out of 20 sets of PV stays outside 2km from Rosyth. I’m one of them. Figured that I should have a chance to ballot even if there isn’t enough vacancy in phase 2B for all PV to get in.

This is my first time posting and have a few questions on PV.

1) Any parents know whether Kong Hwa accept PV? If so how do I go about applying (my boy is born in 2009)?
2) Anyone knows whether the chances for Kong Hwa will be higher if do PV and stay within 1km.
3) Need advise if cannot get into Kong Hwa, should I do PV in maha Bodhi which is 1-2km from my place or Tanjong Katong which is less than 1km.

The PV is seriously stressing me out.

It's true only if girl_next_door's son is a Singaporean or PR and registering in phase 2B. If he is a PR, he may not have a chance to ballot at P2C. If he takes after his dad's nationality, he can only register in phase 3 and SJIJ will be out of his reach.
