My girl was having chicken pox during SA1 exam so she only managed to take the oral exam for Chinese & English. The teacher had assured me that the final results will only based on SA2 results but this is not the case when I received her report book today. The system still captured her SA1 marks. And of course the SA1 marks had pulled down the whole final marks because it is only based on oral exam.

When I check with both the school and MOE. They ask me to check with each side again. So do anyone out there having the same situation like this before, please advise me. Thanks a lot. :?: :?:

The only test the MoE regulates is the PSLE. It will not come in to question the school for this specific scenario. You should just talk with the teacher involved and then with the principal as a last resort.

          Hi shurley197323

My daughter was on medical leaves for mid year last year. The school only take into consideration her final exam marks & did not average the two exam results.

Same view as CKS. Talk to the teacher & the principal.

            Thanks EN.

I had spoken to the principal and he explained that they had only taken the SA1 Oral Exam results into the SA2 results and this is done by every school. Did your girl take any Oral ?
Actually her results is 277/300 but now only 272/300 and others say I am so kiasu.

              Hi shurley197323

My ds was out for 2.5 weeks. So, she missed the oral exam as well.

Does the 5 marks difference hurt your ds in any way? Eg, to be placed in top 3 classes, ranking in standard etc? If no, I don’t see the need to push for the marks.

                  Dear Parents,

Does anyone know the policy of calculation of the assesment marks when the child is absent for the entire examination?

My son is in P2. He is sick for for the past few days and the doctor has given him MC for 5 days. He will miss all the examination. We will just want to know how his results will be reported in the report book.

                  thanks.

I think it is best to check with the school as every school may differ in their approach.

A friend’s kid got HFMD for SA1 last year so there was no result for SA1 and only SA2 results were shown in report book.
