Looking for Kids Shoes with Wheel

InterestingHi everyone, just to share some of my experiences with Heelys. For learners the clones are actually better as the wheels do not spin so fast. I bought a pair of clones for my kid and we found that out by accident. The clones had a button on the back of the heel to retract the wheel. We also have a pair of larger handed-down original Heelys, and by comparison the original ones have faster wheels (technically due to the ABEC ball bearings with less resistance).
The down side is that the clones cannot withstand heavy usage. One wheel has been skated until the rubber cracked and fell off. But the good thing is that we have already mastered the thing, so got our money's worth. I am saving up to upgrade to original Heelys because besides being faster, they can also glide for a longer distance per kick. That's more effective if you want them to follow you around (\"hey can you walk faster or not!\" etc).
The price is the only thing that's hard to swallow. I wished they had some basic no frills model around $100. My own shoes cost only $40!
Actually, smoother wheels may be easier for beginners, at least that is my experience based on inline skating. It was harder to learn on bad skates. But I do wish the original Heelys have that button you talked about for retracting the wheels.
Maybe there's a market for 2nd Heelys? Kids grow so fast these days. -

My kids skate. Does it mean they can automatically do so with Heely’s? Does it feel the same? -

It's different. Heelys are easier and kids are more confident because they can stop anytime. Transiting from Heelys to inline skating is not natural. But transiting from inline skating to Heelys is very easy.You guys got me tempted on Heelys...

Anyway, it's great that I can push my daughter around the supermarket like a trolley.

Thanks! Now more tempted....but not cheap hor...skates themselves already cost me :moneyflies: but at least with heelys they can skate at more places..

Anyone can tell me if there’s any place that my DD can learn how to roll with her Heelys on her own? Just found out that the free workshop at Lor Ah Soo has stopped.

It's actually much easier than inline skating. No real need for expert training. Just look up some Youtube videos. Plenty of instructional videos there.
You may just want to let your girl hang on to your hand or arm and pull her along for here to get used to the sensation of rolling, then slowly let her build up her confidence. -
We just bought a pair of Heelys for our son and I always have the phobia that he will fall down and knock on the back of his head !!
I wonder normally after how long then the kid will master how to skate/roll with it ?
It doesn't help that my boy is timid too....
It just seems so easy to see other kids skating with it -
I totally agree with Blessedwife. I tried hand holding my DD for a few times, but she needs that confidence to make that first successful slide.
I think I will let her try one lesson of inline skating and hopefully she can be able to transfer the skills to her Heelys. -
we bought DD Heelys for her 7th bday. it was difficult for her to use it in the first 3days. hubby used to hold her or she will hold on to our arms. we just watched the videos and coached her. now she can do it confidently. altho she fell one time probably because the path was a little inclined and she put her two feet together. it is important that one foot is in front of the other for good balance.

There will be falls. They happen when kids forget they are on the roller shoes because they got distracted by other things (my dd fell on her bum spilling her ice cream because she was focusing on the ice cream and not the slight slope). But the fun she has with the shoes far outweighs the pain she has had to suffer.
