6 yo boy looking for penpal
-
Hi,
It is nice to know another family who still believe the wonders of snail mail. I got a pen pal for my dd when she was in P4 thru a US site that supports literacy thru writing. They are very careful and ensure both kids’ parents are introduced to each other first. We also have to promise that only snail mail will be used. Dd wanted someone from Europe but she ended up with a girl from US. In the end the girl’s parents and I also started to write to each other as we found we have somethings in common. If you are keen I can get the contact for you. -
Hi osim, can I have the contact please?
I was very into penpals myself during the younger days, good to know they are still available haha...
Would like to introduce to my kids too

HI ScaredyMum,
There are actually plenty of online services for these but many are sleezy ones and most don’t do snail mail. This one that I found took me a long while to discover them. It’s non-profit but they want you to donate 10USD per penpal to help them upkeep the organization.
I always believe that you don’t learn a language just in school. There are so many media you can immerse in. Language is about usage and what better way than to have fun and learn it unconsciously.
dd and her pal were writing frequently, sending presents to each other. Her friend also sent her a shell from Costa Rica beach for her hermit crab’s new home. Dd is a stamp collector so she enjoys getting all the interesting stamps adding to her collection.
Having a pen pal cultivates patience. That sense of longing, anticipation somehow gives a nice fuzzy feeling -
ScaredyMum,
PM you the contact already. You have to fill up 3 forms one of which, a consent form from you has to be sent to them via fax or snail.
Thks for kicking my butt, dd had asked for a French pal for a few months so this thread serves as a reminder for me to do it. She is learning French for 3rd Lang.
Just to let you know, they may take a long time to find a match for you. The last one, we waited more than 6 weeks. -

Done! You are welcome. Very happy to see people still appreciate snail mail and encouraging their kids to do so. FYI, their pool of International pals is much smaller so can be more difficult to get a match. They have a many US kids in their pool.Hi osim,
