I was so sure of my \"invincible status\" till I got reinfected.
Although I hear about the rate of reinfections, I think I've only know (as opposed to \"know of\") 1 person who got reinfected. So the reinfection rate doesn't seem that high to me - I surely know more than 10 people.
Good news is it was relatively mild - 2 days at most then still had some sore throat and cough, tested negative in on Day 4, and recovered from cough less than a week .
Bad news was I probably spread it to 2 people (who hadn't got Covid before) , so felt quite guilty
So yeah, anecdotal but do take a little extra precautions - test and isolate , if needed. -
RE: 2022 NDP tickets giveaway!
I had always balloted, but never got any tickets.2 tickets, 4 tickets, under each family member id, but never got lucky even once. Until one day , almost a decade ago, I got lucky, thanks to Chief, conducting some NDP giveaway contest and I hit jackpot! I \"won\" two tickets thanks to Chief's generous sharing. My son and I loved it!
:thankyou: Chief once again, have lovely memories of that NDP celebrations!ChiefKiasu\" post_id=\"2073911\" time=\"1657416647\" user_id=\"3:
This is a great idea, I may try it out this year. Chief, can you share how crowded it was last time at the barrage? The last time I actually rode a bike up to the Marina Bay Barrage with my daughter just to view the helicopters and the fireworks and it was fun even without a front row seat
Leaving was also easy as we simply biked home.

RE: Strained Relationship with parents
To those of us who had \"normal\" parents, it is hard to understand how much children of narcissistic parents suffer,
A parent's love is unconditional, a parent wants the best for his/her child, a parent will go to great lengths for the happiness of a child -- that is what we like to believe. Not all, and not always.
And it is really sad - cos children deserve love, and support -- someone to believe in then even when no one else will.
So Winth, Liew and MissyYJ, that you have overcome this is an accomplishment, a great one. To have been belittled, gaslit and always made to feel less worthy by the very people who should love you the most , that can damage one's persona. Even thru these trouble , winth, you look at the silver lining of how it has made you a strong person, that is such a positive attitude!
Our foremost responsibility is to love ourselves, and take care of ourselves and if dealing with parents is hurting you, making you relive the childhood pain, then by all means distance yourselves , draw boundaries and fiercely protect yourselves. And dont feel guilty about it. You are doing the right thing.
Hoping you all heal, and move on :grphug: -

Golden Axe! My favorite. And I was hooked onto Romance of the three kingdoms but I don't remember it well.
Then there's Civilisation which we installed on the PCs in MINDEF to play. So when there was an audit by the security team, the computer was flagged for violations because there were many \"The secret of writing has been discovered\" or \"The secret of horse-riding has been discovered\" and other \"secrets\"!
It seems so primitives' by today's tech. But had it's own thrill ... -

Not regular session, I am just an ageing aunty
Sun, I thought I was recovering..then the other day after walking I felt the lain again. When I had it worst, I could feel pain when I got up from sitting position..like got water retention too. Now the pain is more on after walking. I will walk again maybe 2moro see how it goes.
Btw, is walking good for plantar sufferer? I don't know I just dont want to aggravate the inflammation.. carbo arh...yalor I ate rice as in full bowl rice more than last time..sugar I think I m quite in control..any idea if peanut butter will aggravate the condition..I just finished 1 tub..I have craving again waiting to go supermkt to buy.
Your walking distance 15-20km 1 session arh???-- may be 1-2 times a month - like join groups on hikes or me and DH go. But when I had plantar fasciitis under control, I could not even do 8 km - would pain the next days. I was just saying I am able to walk longer distances now.
What I meant is once the inflammation was controlled, the pain just doesnt reoccur. Before I felt I was managing plantar fasciitis ie- as long I didnt strain, as long as I had the high arch support footwear, as long as I diligently exercised the foot, I was ok. But after working on my diet, the inflammation reduced. so even though I dont do the above , my pain doesnt come back. But sticking to the food restrictions is a pain - no added sugars especially for one with a sweet tooth like me. I even cut down on dry fruits or take moderate serving of fruits because eventually sugar is sugar, even natural ones in fruit. -

MrsK, how is your pain these days? Walking, unless too painful, helps. Assuming one has a reasonable good gait and decent footwear.
Health wise I always think I m ok as rarely fall sick type..but when my plantar issue came..I was quite surprised actually asI consider myself taking care of my feet quite alot. After mid 30s I don't wear high heel to run. I pay quite alot of attention on comfort and protection of the feet. So really not sure why have it and looking back earlier than my mom when she first got it.
Well the only thing I can think of was I used to walk alot like 3km alternate day..but many ppl walk and walk more than me right...
Personally, I was managing plantar fasciitis thru some foot exercises, better fitting shoes ( gave up on sandals/slippers) and foot massages, and controlling my walking distances .
What got me over it was a coincidence. A side effect of reducing inflammation - mainly thru diet - drastically reducing sugar ( no sweets/desserts and reducing carbs) . Now I can go for long walks like 15-20 km, cycle 1-2 hrs , with feet tired but no pain. -
RE: cpf contribution
Interesting discussion !
Thinking of how to pass of our assets to our children is seems like a head ache. Cash can be divided , but other assets like properties, material things , how?
Thinking of using the same technique we used when they were kids and had to share one slice of cake or left over icecream. One divides it to two sets , the other chooses
Seriously though, the one thing I have been trying to instill in them is - you have got to have each other's back Be honest and be supportive and be appreciative of each other but dont take each other for granted.
Considering the measly inheritance they will get, the real inheritance we give them is each other. Hopefully they get life partners who are a pillar of support to them, and understand this sibling relationship :xedfingers:

Upto 90 days is low risk , but will still have more immunity for Omnicron. Anyway, if there is an outbreak of another variant, no advantage at all.
The immunity for Omicron is only 90 days.[/quote] -

Glad you are getting better, and hope you will recover soon.
My family just got it too
Dh returned fr Boston, was negative before flight, reach Thursday, sick Fri din suspect Covid coz negative pre flight mah , some more
Mild symptoms for him, stuffy nose, warm body, tired , he thought was a post marathon sick.
Sunday , I got higher fever , throat ulcers
Tested, both positive
Tues, Wed - kids positive , mild
Now dh ok Leow , negative
Me : I got high fever , a bit running nose, worst is the throat! I had Covid sore throat plus two ulcers - swollen throat ( ate a deep fried curry puff n nuggets last Fri n Sat before sick on sun. So I wonder is it bcoz I body heaty so my Covid symptoms so bad ! Fever , headache etc
This sore throat is bad , pain till can cry esp night n morning . Cough with green phlegm too
Day 5 for me now , so much better .
Drink herbal tea, use throat spray to put in medicine , eat the Chinese Lian hua medicine in between western medicine to expel body toxins.
So Covid is still around n alive !
Just a matter of time when one will catch
But with vaccinations n booster , should b ok, I din expect will catch it fr dh fr US imported !
Once if u feel sore n dry throat , avoid spicy n heaty food , to prevent throat to get worst !
Just curious , those who got Covid, do u get throat ulcers or just a sore throat?
Yeah, I had both. ulcer( kinda small red patch) was behind my soft palate between throat towards nose, the soreness and ichiness was lower part. The ulcer wasnt ichy but had a burning feel. Went away in 2-3 days.
If the swelling is bad, like painful, you can ask doc for an anti-inflammatory like Serrapeptase .
If your throat is hurting/iching badly constantly - take some honey such that it coats the throat, especially before sleeping.
Do take care of your throat -- at regular intervals gargle with orasyl, warm saline water, talk less ( and dont laugh or sing) Really dont strain your throat.
And rest.
I took it a bit light once recovered, fedup of bland food. I started having dry cough from day 8 or so that went on for the next 3-4 weeks before I fully recovered. So do take care.
On the bright side, once recovered, we have lower risk at least for the next few months, can go maskless
