Pretty sure the fees that we pay is not enough to even cover operational cost and teachers' salary to begin with. The shortfall is made up by tax payers' contribution, even those without children. So, to expect fees to pay for everything wouldn't be fair to the general population. It's also not right to draw similarities from our time cos we all know that it's like comparing apples and oranges. With Edusave and the school subsidizing partial amount, most of us can afford the additional costs for enriching our children. Those who can't, the ministry has several financial assistance schemes to support them.

      Hi Parents,

Just to check do we have to pay for CCA class fee (not extra lesson) like Wushu, ballet dance, badminton etc for P3-P6?

Actually what are the things that we have to pay or not for CCA? Any advise?
As my understanding of CCA is part of the education compulsory programs and it should be included under the school fee. That is free in my old time. Not considering any extra enhancement class here I am referring to just the basic class.
      Many thanks.

For most CCAs, it is free. The CCAs that require payment are those conducted by PTA(usually external vendors) and are mostly held on Saturdays. Other than those, the CCAs should be free 🙂

This is a reasonable answer. :thankyou:

The basic class for all CCAs in a school should be free for all students if they are compulsary and this should be included in the education budget. The school should ensure that the basic class is within reach for all students. IMO.
The enhancement/enrichment classes are for those affordable who wish to excel further and they are optional.

For parents with kids in upper primary,

I like to ask if you feel like the school focuses on the best and weakest classes,as from what I have heard?

Thank you so much in advance for your feedbacks …

Latest update as of 5pm : SC <1km is 91.

Balloting will be conducted as the school only has 30 vacancies for SC within 1km.
Those staying more than 1km need not consider this school as no chance for you to ballot at all.

According to the circular, Rosyth still has to remain in double session for at least another room due to lack of rooms. Can we parents chip in to rent 1-2 container classrooms to the school to help them convert to single session?

A container classroom housing 25 students (GEP class) costs about $2000 / month and for a class of 40 students costs $4000 / month.

I don’t think I would want my children learning out of containers…

Here is the list of the 31 lucky applicants who got balloted in Rosyth School. http://www.rosyth.moe.edu.sg/cos/o.x?c=/wbn/pagetree&func=view&rid=78756

For the rest of the 89 unsuccessful applicants in Phase 2C, you are not allowed to put your child on waitlist at Rosyth School until you have secured a primary school for your child. That means that those whose children got in at Phase 2C in another school successfully (without balloting) has higher priority to apply waitlist at Rosyth now. You will have to wait till after Phase 2Cs ended in order to apply waitlist.

Wish the rest of the 89 parents good luck and do not be sad for too long as your emotions could affect your child. Your child should be proud of the primary school that they are going to attend Primary 1 next year. Talk about confidence, this is one of the most important criteria that your child should have. You have taken the risk to go for balloting and now you have to move on. Take care.
