Hi
I stay at Eunos Zone 5 RC which is under Aljunied GRC. However, within 1 km of my hse is Maha Bodhi which under MOE’s grouping of schools by GRC is under Marine Parade GRC. So which RC should I join to gain priority admission under Phase 2B? the RC near my home i.e. Aljunied ? or can i join Marine Parade GRC even if i stay at Aljunied GRC area?
How did MOE group the schools as such, very weird?
The CC people I had asked dont seem to have an answer. -

If your residential address is in Aljunied GRC, you are not allowed to join the RC of another GRC. A venue is for you to join the CCMC of any CCs under Marine Parade GRC or the CCC for Marine Parade GRC. However, getting in these committees is difficult. The members are usually have been serving the grassroots for many years.Hi

Hi piranha
Thanks for the advice! Lucky I did not waste time go volunteer at aljunied. -
quick question.
I am a GRL, for the past 2 yrs… my kid is less than 1 yr old, (I joined RC because I like the work there)
I am almost sure I qualify for P2B.
(you know la, GRC so big… I have a few schools in mind now, some are further than 2km for sure)
quick question:
if there is balloting required for P2B, is there distance consideration during the balloting? or all clan, PV, GRL are in the same pot for the lucky draw?
the reason is some school are more than 2km away.
only in the event that, I sway sway missed the P2B balloting, then I can’t go for the 2C, becos I stay more than 2km. Is that the correct understanding?
thank you.

If you are already an executive member in the RC, then you should qualify so long as you continue to serve up right up to when your child is due to register.
Under Ph 2B, there is no difference between PVs, GRLs, Clan/Church if balloting is required. No preference given.
If number of applicants > number of place, then all SC will be given absolute priority. However, if number of SC applicants > number of places available, then distance will come in to determine whether balloting will be required in which distance category (< 1 km, 1-2 km or > 2 km).
So, even though your GRL work allows you to apply for all schools within the GRC, you may not stand a chance if you are staying > 2 km away and the schools that you are targetting, based on past year trend require balloting < 2 km. -
whats SC? pardon my lack of knowledge?
so join RC still must buy/rent property if i want Nanyang primary? (for example only) -

Singapore Citizens. -
wow...
hypothetically,
if P2B, got 30 places, PV+GRL+Clan= 60 , i.e balloting required
less than 1km got 30, all 30 will get in, thus no need to ballot.
the others just LLST.
is that correct?Aleixis:

If you join RC and you want to register for Nanyang primary, then you will have to be serving in one of the RCs within the Holland Bukit Timah GRC.whats SC? pardon my lack of knowledge?
so join RC still must buy/rent property if i want Nanyang primary? (for example only)
Since you quoted Nanyang primary as an example, past statistics for nanyang (including this year) has shown that balloting is required for < 1 km.
So, if you stay > 1 km away, the chance will be low. -
thanks.
