I can understand your frustration, especially so when you have appealed for your child to get into NJC. But I hope that you do not let your frustrations and negative moods affect the enthusiasm of your child in the school.

Any parents here with any comments about the way the enhanced boarding school is run and whether they find it good?

Wow, where to start?

Based on his views, The Son (TS) has had a relatively enjoyable and fruitful year. Homework loading was not too high (\"still have time to slack\"). Having small assessment tests whole year round (instead of \"big\" exams at year end) eases pressure somewhat.

I got lost trying to understand how some subjects were covered - science especially. Could be a shortcoming in reportage by TS or my utter confusion. I tried comparing what was taught to the MOE's prescribed syllabi on its website, but could not relate. Not having textbooks aggravate the problem somewhat because it was hard to string the handouts together, not helped by TS's book-keeping and filing skills.

Girls, being the dominant species, bully the guys, based on TS's biased reporting. I doubt it.

Red PE shorts are uncool, the \"act-cool\" TS complained.

As someone mentioned, CCA was on a \"trying\" basis, but the system is pretty \"random\" (using the lingo of 14 years-old, meaning \"messy\"). Some have already been allocated their CCAs, others are still.... trying.

Enhanced Boarding School, I have many views, so let's keep it to another day. But at least food was decent for Sunday when they reported. TS reported that dinner had scallops!! (My reply : \"Only on the first day to make you guys happy.\")

Generally, one would not expect the same level of communication from a secondary school as compared to a primary school. As the kids grow older, they also need to learn to manage on their own.

So I agree that some disorganisation and undefined chaotic activities and experience would be good for them.

The way the tour organised for the prospective JC1 students was really messy and disorganised. It need not have to be like that.

Little wonder they did not have a president's scholar for 13 looooong years, from 1996 till 2009

I am also lost about the syllabus especially if no textbooks. So, how does your son manage ? I also wonder ? Do they have suggested reading list of books ?

I thought the school would have learnt a lesson from last year's delays. :stupid:

Maybe you guys can blame us lao-jiao parents who did not feedback last year (buy uniform only one time mah!). I've just spoken to TS* over the phone at boarding school how CMI* NJC was on the first day of school and remind him to \"feedback or live to regret.\" As parents, we should too. :roll:
