I’m wondering whether to let my son take up a third lang. He’s in iSpark ( I don’t know whether this means a heavier workload??) and he’ll be in the tennis team which trains 3 times a week, and he also trains twice a week outside from 6.30 to 9 pm and plays matches on weekends for a few hours. We live very near school so he doesn’t spend time commuting - he walks to school in under 10 min. He chose Malay cos it’s held in school so he won’t need to commute, and it’s held between school dismissal and start of cca so he can fit it in if he wants to. Should I let him start or should I just ask him to forget it and just concentrate on his main subjects? Lots of people end up dropping their 3rd lang before they even get to sec 3, I hear. Would appreciate any opinions before I buy any books for him. TIA

Any parents with sons in both RI and HCI? Would you care to give your opinion on one school vs the other? My son was dead set on HCI and it’s so near home it really made sense to save the daily commute to any other school. Only 13 out of the 60 odd boys in his cohort chose HCI. Almost all of the others are in RI. I’m wondering if they know something we don’t?? Is RI a better school?? I have another boy doing his PSLE this year, so it’ll be helpful to hear comparisons from parents with boys in both schools. TIA

If he has the opportunity and interest, why deny him? He learns something new; there is no real loss anyway even if he drops it along the way.
My DS1 wants to take up German. He said he was interested in it so I let him. His is a longer commute. At this point, I don't really know where this will end up, I just want him to enjoy the journey as long he is able to.

Yr DS is a smart boy, if he has the time n interest, I'll say go for it.

Hi JustKP, my son also in ProEd and have Japanese on Thurs. You have changed for your DS?

If I'm not wrong, most HCI Sec 1 students will have their 3rd lang on Thurs at Ghim Moh. I do not know if ProEd is the only consortium that has RS on every Thurs or is it for all consortium. I believe there will be quite alot of affected students. Hence, rather than changing the 3rd lang classes, it will probably be easier for HCI to change their RS lesson. I have feedback to HCI and the admin will check with the teacher in-charge to see if there is anything they can do about it. Should get an answer from them today and then decide what should be done.

JustKP, pls update here if any change for RS.
Otherwise hv to change timing of 3rd lang. class.

Also, if there is PE lesson, do the students wear their PE attire to sch then change into their uniforms after PE juz like in Pri sch?
