Strange, I just spoken to mentor from the school, no interview for year 1 DSA. :scratchhead:
Unless their system is sending out spam mail. I received an email from them asking us to attend an interview on Aug 12, 3.30 to 6pm.
Wah, 2 1/2 h interview!
It is for a group of students, you got to report at 3.15pm and wait for your turn. If you are lucky you get to go 1st, if not you may have to wait till 6pm. -
Did they mentioned what the interview is meant for ? Call up and check ?
Aiyo this school, making all of us so nervous.
It mentioned to find out more about their passion in Maths and Science.
So stringent....anyway, good luck and all the best to your DS ! :xedfingers:
This also means the result will be even later then 12Aug. :stupid:
Thank you!
We need some good luck indeed ... my boy not very talkative ... finger crossed ... -
Hi parents, when you support your DS/DD to DSA into NUSH is due to their strong interest in both
1) Math and Science
2) Math Only
3) Science only …which is your option?
Also do your DS/DD always score high 90s in Math and Science in school? And I believe if your DS/DD are awarded Gold in NMOS, they should be able to cope very well in NUSH. However, for kids who can score high 80s to 90s in their school exams but do not even have a Bronze for NMOS, do you think these kids will be able to cope well in NUSH? -

My son has a gold in NMOs but his science is in the 80s range. He is a GEP kid but I am still hesitant and not confident he can cope in nushigh. His passion is more into maths . Still DSA for it .And decide later.Hi parents, when you support your DS/DD to DSA into NUSH is due to their strong interest in both

Why do you think gold in nmos good enough? How about science? -
fanren,
Thanks for reply. One of my friends’ DD is interested in NUSH, but her mum is worried if she’s able to cope. Understand her DD is doing quite well in P4 and P5, scoring high 80s-90s in both Math and Science in her academic but not in those Math or Science competitions, so wondering if she should let her DD DSA in P6. My friend’s concern is her DD’s ability to cope as NUSH is very advanced in Math and Science learning.
Any parents whose child had not won any Math or Science competition but do well in academic finds it easy to cope in NUSH? Your advice is much appreciated. -
And btw, my friend’s DD is a non GEP student but in high ability class.

I received an email asking my DS to go for interview on the 12 of August too. I have butterflies in my stomach now. How many students having interview this year?

:scared: My blood pressure is up too ... no idea of actual number, but rough estimate if the interview is about 15minutes per candidate ... they should be able to squeeze in 12 - 15 per session ... the interviews started this Monday, my son schoolmate received notice early last week to attend. Plus this week 6 rounds, Monday - Wednesday, morning and afternoon ... plus this week another 6? They probably going to interview 150 - 180 students? The number they going to accept?
It is just my guess ... -
MommyAnt:
Called NUSH. They said they are interviewing only those not so clear cut cases. Those confirmed offer and confirmed reject, they don't interview. They taking in 90% of the 170 places via DSA. I.e. 153.elmoland73:

Interview is not the formal process for nushigh dsa yr1 so logically is the borderline cases I mentioned previously. Good luck to those going for interview
